Employment Solicitor
Our client is seeking an experienced Employment Solicitor to join their established employment team based in Milton Keynes or Northampton.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a respected regional firm with a strong employment practice, advising both employers and individuals on a broad range of contentious and non-contentious matters. The role offers a blend of hands-on client work, leadership responsibility and involvement in departmental development.
The successful candidate will play an active role in shaping the continued success of the department, while managing a varied caseload and contributing to wider firm growth initiatives.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing a varied caseload of employment law matters
- Advising clients in person, remotely and by telephone
- Handling correspondence with clients, agents and third parties
- Attending court hearings and external client meetings as required
- Reporting to and contributing at Management Board level
- Overseeing and supervising other members of the employment team
- Monitoring and maintaining fee income and performance targets
- Reporting on departmental performance and KPIs
- Supporting business development and generating new work for the department and firm
- Ensuring adherence to quality and work management systems
- Maintaining Lexcel compliance, including file reviews and CARs
- Contributing to training and development of departmental staff
- Qualified Solicitor with 3+ years PQE in employment law
- Strong experience across both advisory and contentious employment matters
- Ability to manage client expectations effectively under pressure
- Proven organisational and time management skills
- Experience supervising or supporting junior colleagues (desirable)
- Strong commercial awareness and understanding of performance targets
- Ability to contribute to business development and departmental growth
