Employment Adviser

  • Hourly Pay: £17.18

  • Location: Crystal Peaks, Sheffield

  • Job Type: Onsite, 4 to 5 days per week

Join a dedicated team in Sheffield as an Employment Adviser, where you will play a crucial role in supporting young people to overcome barriers to employment and successfully transition into the workforce. This position is based at Crystal Peaks with a potential future relocation to Peaks College.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Provide one-to-one employment advice and guidance to young people referred through DWP.

  • Assist individuals in identifying their skills, strengths, experience, and employment goals.

  • Help young people create, develop, and enhance their CVs and job applications.

  • Offer practical support with job searching and identifying suitable employment opportunities.

  • Prepare individuals for interviews and recruitment processes.

  • Work to improve the confidence of young people and help them become work-ready.

  • Identify potential barriers to employment and collaborate with individuals to develop realistic plans to overcome them.

  • Develop individual action plans and monitor progress towards employment.

  • Collaborate closely with the onsite DWP Job Coach and other colleagues to provide comprehensive employment support.

  • Signpost young people to appropriate training, education, or additional support where required.

  • Maintain accurate records of engagement, activities, progress, and outcomes.

  • Encourage and motivate young people, providing ongoing support throughout their journey towards employment.

Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience in employment support, employability, careers, recruitment, education, skills, youth services, or a similar environment.

  • Proficient in job searching techniques, CV writing, applications, and interview preparation.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building positive relationships with young people from diverse backgrounds.

  • Understanding of the barriers young people face when seeking employment.

  • Ability to motivate and encourage individuals who may lack confidence or experience.

  • Excellent organisation and record-keeping skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and external partners.

  • A positive, patient, and solution-focused approach.

  • Confidence in working independently while being part of a wider team.
