<h3><strong>About the team</strong></h3>
<p>Stripe is seeking a highly experienced and strategic Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) to lead our regulatory compliance, financial crimes and enterprise risk officers and program across EMEA. This role reports to the Global Head of Compliance Officers, CROs &amp; MLROs and sits within the Financial Crime, Compliance &amp; Risk Oversight (FinCRO) organization.</p>
<h2><strong>What you’ll do</strong> </h2>
<p>You will be the principal decision-maker and strategic lead on financial crimes, regulatory compliance and enterprise risk management for EMEA, serving a critical role in ensuring Stripe's continued safe growth in the region. You will be the public face of the compliance team across EMEA and a primary point of contact with regulators, financial partners, and internal stakeholders. You will provide strategic direction and oversight to the MLROs operating across the region, ensuring programs are designed to efficiently and effectively prevent, detect, and report financial crime. The ideal candidate will have deep subject matter expertise in regulatory compliance, financial crimes and ERM across EMEA markets, and a proven track record forging tech-forward compliance programs in a regulated financial services or payments environment.</p>
<h3><strong>Responsibilities</strong></h3>
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="font-weight: 400;"><strong>Strategic Leadership</strong>: Develop and implement a robust and scalable compliance strategy for EMEA, aligning with global FinCRO objectives and business goals. </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">Drive a culture of compliance and sound regulatory risk management across the region as Stripe expands its product offerings in existing markets and enters new ones.</span></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;"><strong>Team Management</strong>: Lead, mentor, and inspire a high-performing team of compliance, risk management and financial crimes professionals across EMEA, fostering a culture of compliance, collaboration, continuous improvement and creative solutioning across a geographically distributed team.</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;"><strong>AML/Financial Crimes Program Oversight</strong>: Own and enhance the regional AML, counter-terrorist financing, sanctions, and anti-bribery and corruption (ABC) programs for EMEA, working closely with MLROs in the region.</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;"><strong>Regulatory Management</strong>: Serve as the primary point of contact for financial regulators across EMEA and an ambassador to the industry in the region. Lead regulatory engagement including license applications, new regulatory consultations, and ongoing supervisory relationships. Engage with regulatory bodies on Stripe's behalf and serve as a thought leader for technology-focused compliance solutions. Proactively manage regulatory change, uplifting programs and controls as needed.</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;"><strong>Partner and Relationship Management</strong>: Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with key financial partners, including banks, payment networks, and other third-party providers. Serve as the senior compliance point of contact for partner inquiries, audits, and ongoing operational alignment across the region.</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;"><strong>Advisory and Consultation</strong>: Ensure Stripe's global regulatory compliance, financial crimes and enterprise risk management frameworks, policies, and controls (e.g., KYC, transaction monitoring, regulatory reporting, risk assessment, training, testing) are fit for purpose for local requirements. Monitor product launches and business model changes to ensure regional compliance programs reflect new developments, including timely regulatory notifications. Provide expert guidance to business stakeholders on market expansion, product development, and operational changes to ensure compliance by design.</li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;"><strong>Governance and Reporting</strong>: Mature the regional governance framework to streamline decision-making and focus oversight on the areas of greatest regulatory and business risk.</li>

<h2><strong>Who you are</strong></h2>

<h3><strong>Minimum requirements</strong></h3>
<ul>
<li>12+ years of experience in compliance and financial crime, with significant focus on financial services, fintech, or payments, including direct experience in a senior compliance role in EMEA.</li>
<li>Extensive people management experience, including leading geographically dispersed teams through organizational and regulatory change.</li>
<li>Deep and current knowledge of regulatory compliance and AML/financial crime requirements across key EMEA markets, with particular expertise with CBI and FCA. </li>
<li>Demonstrated experience interacting directly with financial regulators in EMEA, including managing supervisory relationships, license applications, and regulatory change processes.</li>
<li>Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex regulatory concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences, and to represent Stripe externally with credibility and authority.</li>
<li>Ability to think strategically and translate complex regulatory requirements into practical, scalable business solutions in a fast-moving environment.</li>
<li>Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to decision-making and a comfort operating in ambiguity.</li>
</ul>
<h3><strong>Preferred qualifications</strong></h3>
<ul>
<li style="font-weight: 400;"><span style="font-weight: 400;">CAMS (Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist) or other relevant professional certifications are a plus.</span></li>
<li style="font-weight: 400;">Experience working in a global, matrixed organization spanning multiple regulatory regimes.</li>
