The Role
------------

As an Embedded Firmware Control Engineer, you will design and implement embedded software and real\-time control algorithms for electric motor\-driven systems.

You will work hands\-on with both software and hardware, developing control algorithms in simulation, implementing them on embedded platforms and validating their performance on real systems.

The role is particularly suited to an engineer who enjoys going beyond writing code — someone who wants to understand the physical system, experiment with different approaches and see their work perform on actual hardware.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop embedded software and firmware for electric motor control

  • Model, simulate and analyse control algorithms using MATLAB/Simulink

  • Implement real\-time control algorithms on microcontrollers and DSPs

  • Develop and tune control loops for real\-world system performance

  • Work closely with hardware, mechanical and software engineers

  • Perform unit testing, debugging and real\-time validation of control algorithms

  • Support prototype bring\-up, hardware testing and troubleshooting

  • Investigate performance issues and identify improvements at both software and system level

  • Contribute to system architecture and technical decisions

  • Create and maintain system\-level technical documentation

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for an experienced engineer with a strong combination of embedded programming, control systems and practical engineering experience.

You have:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering or a related field

  • 8\+ years of experience in an R\&D or advanced engineering environment

  • Strong programming skills in C and real\-time embedded development

  • Solid understanding of RTOS and real\-time system behaviour

  • Practical experience with FOC (Field\-Oriented Control) and electric motor control

  • Experience with embedded platforms such as ARM, ST or NXP

  • Experience with debugging and development tools such as JTAG and CANanalyzer

  • Strong proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink for modelling, simulation and control tuning

  • Strong understanding of control theory and signal processing

  • Experience with unit testing and automated test frameworks

Why This Opportunity?

Because you will actually get to build things.

This role sits at the intersection of advanced algorithms and real hardware. You will not be limited to one narrow part of the development process.

You can take a control concept from MATLAB/Simulink embedded implementation prototype real\-time testing optimisation and see the results directly.

You will work alongside highly skilled engineers and researchers on problems that require more than simply applying established solutions.
