The Data Center Engineering Operations Technician (EOT) is responsible for delivery of best practice systems and problem resolution on all data center electrical and mechanical infrastructure (UPS, MV electrical systems, generators, cooling systems etc.) within the data center environment in a specific location. The role requires a highly driven, self-managed individual who demonstrates initiative and proactively seeks solutions to complex technical problems. This position requires frequent site interventions, critical switching activities, along with troubleshooting and fixing infrastructure issues. The role would suit someone who enjoys working in a ‘hands on’ capacity on Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) infrastructure such as diesel generators, switchgear, UPS’s, PDU’s, AHU’s, fire detection systems and building automation systems. As a facility owner team, ensure remediation of safety risks/issues in conjunction with other teams. Own the safety initiatives and projects to foster strong safety culture. oTroubleshoot events within internal Service Level Agreements (SLA’s) oTake daily operational readings of all mechanical and electrical equipment through routine rounds/log-taking (temperatures, voltages, currents, etc.) oSupervise contractor or Engineering Operations Technicians to ensure proper operation and maintenance of all facility equipment. oDriving continuous improvement efforts on infrastructure through standardization of procedures and policies, while delivering performance against agreed metrics. oProvide training and guidance to Engineering Operations Technicians and assist in recruiting efforts. oLead the root cause analysis for operational issues, and conduct meetings with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to finalize mitigation strategies. •Perform physical tasks during the shift A day in the life Your day will be dynamic and hands-on, involving direct interaction with sophisticated electrical and mechanical infrastructure. You'll move between monitoring systems, conducting preventive maintenance, and responding to potential technical challenges. Expect to engage with advanced technologies like diesel generators, switchgear, uninterruptible power supplies, and building automation systems. Operational experience and familiarity with electrical and mechanical equipment, including Uninterruptable Power Supplies (UPS’s), Switchgear, Circuit Breakers, Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS's), Diesel Generators, Chillers, Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning (HVAC), Exhaust Fans, Variable Frequency Drives (VFD's), and Transformers. •Ability to work shifts (morning, late and night) •On-call rotation reaction to off-duty emergency calls •Work at heights and from ladders; in a noisy environment with ear protection BASIC QUALIFICATIONS - Apprentice/trades certifie...
