Electro \- Mechanical Production Engineer

Manufacture and repair advanced electronic and mechanical systems for the offshore seismic and survey industries.

About GeoMagna

With offices in the UK and Singapore, GeoMagna is a small but growing company specialising in the design, manufacture and supply of advanced electronic systems for the offshore marine survey industry.

Our equipment supports a wide range of offshore surveying requirements, including offshore wind farm development, subsea infrastructure projects, hydrographic surveys, and the oil and gas exploration industry.

With a focus on reliability, innovation, and technical excellence, we provide solutions trusted by offshore operators and survey contractors worldwide.

About the Role

Do you have a passion for building, machining, and repairing high\-precision equipment? GeoMagna is seeking a skilled Electro\-Mechanical Production Engineer to join our manufacturing team at our UK headquarters in Blandford Forum.

In this role, you will bridge the gap between electronics assembly and mechanical fabrication. You will be responsible for building, wiring, machining, and repairing assemblies for our specialized range of offshore electronic products. Working closely with our design team, you will ensure our high\-tech equipment is built to survive harsh marine environments.

*Note: While our products operate in the offshore seismic sector, we know this is a unique industry for North Dorset. We are fully committed to providing specific product training for a skilled technician or engineer with a strong multi\-skilled mechanical/electronic background.*

Key Responsibilities

The Key Responsibilities for the role of Electro \- Mechanical Production Engineer are:

  • Assembly \& Repair: Manufacture, solder, assemble, and repair complex electro\-mechanical components and sub\-systems.

  • Machining \& Prototyping: Program and operate workshop machinery, including CNC machines, 3D printers, and traditional hand/machine tools.

  • Quality Assurance: Read technical schematics and use precision measurement tools to inspect components, ensuring they meet tight tolerances.

  • Supplier Liaison: Work closely with external suppliers to ensure third\-party fabricated parts meet our exact engineering specifications.

  • Continuous Improvement: Support the evolution of manufacturing processes and fixtures to improve build efficiency and product reliability.
Requirements

We recognize this requires a diverse skill set. If you are strong in electronics but weaker on CNC (or vice versa) but have a high aptitude to learn, please still apply. We hire for attitude and train for gaps.

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years in a hands\-on manufacturing, assembly, prototyping, or repair environment.

  • Core Technical Skills: Proficient in electronic soldering, wiring, and reading both electronic schematics and mechanical engineering drawings.

  • Machining Aptitude: Experience or a strong mechanical aptitude for operating workshop machinery (CNC programming/operation is highly desirable).

  • Industry Bonus: Prior experience with offshore seismic, marine survey, or subsea equipment is a significant advantage, but not essential.

  • Attributes: Exceptional attention to detail, tight\-tolerance precision, and the ability to problem\-solve independently within a small, collaborative team.
What we Offer

We offer the following for this position:

  • Salary: Competitive salary commensurate with your experience level.

  • Work\-Life Balance: 20 days annual leave plus bank holidays, alongside a local commute avoiding city traffic.
