Job Title: Electrican/ Street Light Operative
Location: Sittingbourne, Kent (ME10)
Start Date: Tomorrow Morning (Thursday, 17th September 2026)
Contract Duration: Ongoing / Long-Term
Pay Rate: £18.00 - £22.00 per hour (dependent on qualifications and pay type)
About the Role We are looking for an experienced Street Light Operative for an immediate start tomorrow morning on a street lighting maintenance and installation contract in Sittingbourne.
This is a great opportunity to secure steady, long-term work with an established highway services contractor operating across Kent.
Key Responsibilities • Installing, replacing, and maintaining street lighting columns, lanterns, and LED units.
- Diagnosing electrical faults and carrying out basic repairs on highway electrical infrastructure.
- Operating mobile elevated work platforms (MEWPs / bucket trucks) to perform high-level works safely.
- Laying, terminating, and jointing underground cables connected to feeder pillars.
- Adhering strictly to Chapter 8 traffic management rules and site safety protocols.
- Valid IPAF Ticket (Category 1b or 3b for powered access platforms).
- G39 Certificate (Working safely near electricity supply networks preferred).
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671) or relevant electrical qualifications are a strong advantage.
- Full UK Driving Licence (C1 / HGV Category C is a plus).
- Full PPE (Steel toe boots, high-vis jacket/trousers, hard hat, and gloves).
- Right to work in the UK.
- Start Date: Tomorrow, Thursday 17th September 2026.
- Duration: Ongoing long-term work.
- Weekly pay via CIS, Umbrella, or PAYE options.
