Having successfully brought a world\-class Formula 1 power unit from concept to competition, Red Bull Powertrains is now focused on extracting every possible performance gain as we compete at the pinnacle of motorsport. We're looking for an Electrical Systems \& Simulation Engineer to join our Electronics Design Team and play a key role in the ongoing evolution of our power unit technology. Based at our cutting\-edge Milton Keynes campus, you'll work alongside some of the brightest minds in Formula 1 to help shape the future of high\-performance powertrain systems.
Pushing the limits of Power Unit performance starts with bold ideas. As a member of the Electronics team, you'll contribute to pioneering research initiatives, tackle complex engineering challenges, and support a world\-class team dedicated to delivering performance, innovation, and competitive advantage.
Your role:
- Create and manage ERS electronics requirements, interfaces and architecture documents
- Investigate complex system\-level issues involving multiple components
- Propose performance projects and evaluate the system\-level performance impact of project proposals
- Review and analyse data to investigate faults or evaluate the impact of performance projects
- Develop and manage ERS electrical simulation models, including battery, electronics and electric machine
- Generate reports and present results
- A degree in Electronics Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or equivalent qualification
- Advanced knowledge of modelling and simulation tools for electronics design, batteries and motors (ideally including MATLAB/Simulink)
- Skilled research of new technologies and finding innovative solutions, which enable performance advantages
- Proven track record of successful fault investigation, containment, and rectification
- Able to mentor Junior Electronics Engineers
- MSc or PhD degree, or an equivalent advanced qualification
- Hands\-on expertise in power electronics design, including high\-power inverters, DC\-DC converters, batteries, and electric motors
- Exposure to Formula 1 hybrid Power Unit development projects
- Understanding of modern optimisation techniques and machine learning algorithms
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python
- Familiarity with EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility) standards, testing, and mitigation methods
