Electrical QA/QC Supervisor – Solar Farm Construction Project

Reports To: Site Manager / QA/QC Manager / Project Manager

Location: Tipperary

Position Summary

The Electrical QA/QC Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that all electrical installation works associated with the solar farm are completed in accordance with project specifications, Irish regulations, applicable standards, approved drawings, and quality management procedures. The role involves inspection, testing, documentation control, contractor oversight, and coordination with commissioning teams to ensure the delivery of a safe, compliant, and high\-quality electrical installation.

Key ResponsibilitiesQuality Assurance \& Quality Control

  • Implement and monitor the project Quality Management Plan (QMP) for all electrical works.

  • Ensure compliance with project specifications, design drawings, method statements, ITPs (Inspection and Test Plans), and applicable standards.

  • Conduct routine inspections of electrical installations including:

  • DC cable installation and termination

  • String combiner boxes

  • Inverters

  • MV/LV transformers

  • Switchgear and substations

  • Earthing and lightning protection systems

  • SCADA and communications systems

  • Raise and track Non\-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and corrective actions.

  • Verify material deliveries and ensure equipment meets approved specifications.
Inspection \& Testing
  • Witness and verify electrical testing activities, including:

  • Continuity testing

  • Insulation resistance testing

  • Earth resistance testing

  • Cable testing

  • Functional testing

  • Protection relay testing

  • Review and approve test records and commissioning documentation.

  • Coordinate pre\-commissioning and commissioning inspections with contractors and client representatives.
Documentation \& Reporting
  • Maintain accurate QA/QC records and inspection reports.

  • Review and compile quality dossiers, turnover packages, and as\-built documentation.

  • Ensure all quality documentation is complete and available for client review.

  • Provide regular progress and quality reports to project management.
Contractor Management
  • Monitor subcontractor performance and workmanship.

  • Ensure works are carried out in accordance with approved procedures and quality requirements.

  • Participate in toolbox talks and quality briefings.

  • Support site teams in resolving technical and quality\-related issues.
Compliance \& Safety
  • Ensure compliance with:

  • Irish electrical regulations

  • Safe Electric requirements

  • ETCI National Rules for Electrical Installations (ET101\)

  • Relevant IEC and EN standards

  • Project HSE requirements

  • Promote a strong quality and safety culture across the project.
Qualifications \& Experience
  • Degree, Higher National Diploma, or Trade Qualification in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Installation.

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in electrical QA/QC, inspection, or supervision roles.

  • Experience on utility\-scale solar PV, renewable energy, substations, power generation, or large infrastructure projects.

  • Strong understanding of electrical testing and commissioning practices.

  • Knowledge of Irish and European electrical standards and regulations.

  • Valid Safe Pass and Manual Handling certification (or willingness to obtain).

  • Full driving licence preferred.
Skills \& Competencies
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and technical specifications.

  • Excellent communication and reporting skills.

  • Competent in Microsoft Office and quality management systems.

  • Strong problem\-solving and organisational skills.

  • Ability to work effectively with contractors, engineers, clients, and commissioning teams.
Key Deliverables
  • Electrical works completed to specification and approved standards.

  • Timely closure of quality issues and NCRs.

  • Complete and accurate testing and turnover documentation.

  • Successful support of energisation and project handover activities.

  • Zero major quality\-related defects at project completion.
Pay: €60,000\.00\-€90,000\.00 per year
