A J Taylor is looking for an experienced Electrical Project Manager to join our growing team.
We are an established electrical and building services contractor delivering projects across Brighton, Sussex and the wider South East. Alongside our core electrical contracting business, we provide a growing range of specialist services including fire \& security, renewables, HVAC and associated building works.
We're looking for someone who can take genuine ownership of their projects — from initial handover and planning through to delivery, commercial control and final completion.
The Role
As Electrical Project Manager, you'll be responsible for managing a portfolio of electrical projects, alongside occasional smaller construction and multi\-trade projects.
You'll work closely with our management, estimating, design, procurement and site teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, professionally, on programme and commercially.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing electrical projects from handover through to completion
- Planning labour, materials, subcontractors and project resources
- Managing and supporting site supervisors and engineers
- Producing and maintaining project programmes
- Attending client, contractor and site meetings
- Managing project costs, variations and commercial performance
- Monitoring progress against programme and budget
- Procurement of materials and subcontract packages
- Reviewing drawings, specifications and technical information
- Coordinating with other trades and building services
- Managing smaller construction and multi\-trade projects where required
- Ensuring health \& safety and company procedures are followed
- Maintaining strong communication with clients throughout the project
- Managing project completion, snagging, commissioning and handover documentation
We're looking for someone who is organised, commercially aware and comfortable taking responsibility for their own projects.
Ideally, you'll have:
- Previous experience as an Electrical Project Manager, Contracts Manager or similar
- Strong electrical installation and technical knowledge
- Experience managing commercial electrical projects
- Good understanding of BS 7671 and current electrical regulations
- Experience managing labour, subcontractors and suppliers
- Good commercial awareness, including variations, costs and project margins
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- The ability to manage multiple live projects
- Confidence dealing directly with clients, consultants and main contractors
- Experience with small construction or multi\-trade projects would be an advantage
- Relevant electrical qualifications
- Full UK driving licence
