About the Role

We are seeking a capable and practical Electrical \& Electronic Service \& Assembly Engineer to join our engineering team.

This is a hands\-on, workshop\-focused role, with the primary emphasis on electrical and electronic system assembly, build, and test. In addition, you will support system installations and provide technical support to customers, offering a varied and engaging engineering position.

You will play a key role in ensuring our X\-ray systems are built, tested, and delivered to the highest standards, while supporting their performance in real\-world applications across a global customer base.

Role Focus

While this position includes field service responsibilities, the core purpose of the role is electrical and electronic system assembly and build.

We are specifically looking for someone who:

  • Enjoys hands\-on, workshop\-based engineering work

  • Has strong electrical and electronic assembly skills

  • Is confident in fault finding, diagnostics, and problem solving

  • Can think logically and work through technical issues methodically

  • Takes pride in quality, attention to detail, and reliability
This is not a purely service\-based role—it is best suited to an engineer who enjoys building, testing, and improving systems as well as customer facing interactions.

Key Responsibilities

Assembly \& Manufacturing (Primary Focus)

  • Assemble and build systems incorporating electrical, electronic, and mechanical components

  • Carry out wiring, integration, and system testing

  • Perform final validation and pre\-shipment checks

  • Identify build issues and implement practical solutions
Service \& Field Support
  • Install and commission systems at customer sites

  • Provide remote and on\-site technical support

  • Diagnose faults and carry out servicing and repairs

  • Provide occasional out\-of\-hours support when required
Technical Development \& Improvement
  • Support product development to ensure systems are robust and serviceable

  • Investigate field issues and contribute to continuous improvement

  • Assist in developing service procedures, diagnostics, and documentation
Training \& Support
  • Support preparation of technical documentation and training materials

  • Deliver training to internal staff, partners, and customers

  • Work collaboratively with engineering and support teams
Preferred Background \& Experience

Our most successful engineers in this role typically come from a formal technical training background, combined with strong hands\-on capability.

We are particularly interested in candidates who:

  • Have completed a recognised apprenticeship in electrical, electronic, or engineering disciplines

  • Hold a BTEC, ONC, or similar technical qualification *(preferred but not essential)*

  • Have practical experience in electrical/electronic assembly, wiring, and system test
More importantly, we are looking for someone who is:
  • Practical and capable, able to work independently

  • Technically minded, with strong fault\-finding ability

  • Reliable, methodical, and detail\-focused

  • Willing to take ownership and see tasks through to completion
Minimum Expectations (Please Read Before Applying)

To ensure a good fit for both you and the role, applicants should comfortably meet the following:

  • Demonstrable experience in electrical or electronic assembly (not mechanical)

  • Ability to read and work from wiring diagrams and schematics

  • Proven fault\-finding and diagnostic skills in electrical/electronic systems

  • A hands\-on, practical approach—this role is primarily workshop\-based

  • Willingness to travel and engage with customers when required
This role is not suited to:
  • Candidates with a purely mechanical assembly or fitting background

  • Individuals seeking a design\-only, office\-based, or supervisory role

  • Applicants without practical electrical or electronic experience
Why Join 3DX\-Ray?
  • Work with advanced X\-ray imaging technology in a specialist sector

  • Be part of a small, highly capable engineering team

  • Gain experience across assembly, testing, and field deployment

  • Opportunity to contribute directly to product quality and development

  • Varied role combining hands\-on engineering and real\-world application
Pay: From £30,000\.00 per year
