Rate: £35.00 - £38.49 per hour
Contract: 12-Month Contract
We are seeking an experienced Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Supervisor to join a leading global engineering and manufacturing organisation on a 12-month contract basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive EHS professional to lead safety initiatives, drive cultural change, and support compliance across a complex operational environment.
The Role
As EHS Supervisor, you will provide leadership, mentoring, and direction to hourly, salaried, and management personnel engaged in Environmental, Health & Safety activities. You will play a pivotal role in developing and maintaining a strong safety culture while ensuring compliance with regulatory and corporate standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage facility risk assessment programmes, identifying environmental, health, and safety hazards and implementing effective control measures.
- Govern EHS training plans to ensure compliance with legal requirements and support business objectives.
- Conduct audits of EHS programmes, ensuring adherence to company standards and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor EHS performance metrics, identify trends, and proactively escalate concerns to management.
- Manage industrial hygiene and health surveillance programmes, driving associated improvement initiatives.
- Support sustainability objectives and promote best practice across the organisation.
- Provide guidance on risk identification, assessment, and mitigation across EHS activities.
- Develop and implement health and safety policies through effective stakeholder engagement and consultation.
- Deliver training and coaching to employees on EHS compliance requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to facilitate effective EHS management systems.
- Lead strategic safety culture initiatives and support organisational behavioural change programmes.
- Maintain robust process control for EHS recordkeeping, reporting, and compliance documentation.
- Oversee incident investigation processes, ensuring effective Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) and Just Culture principles are applied.
- Support claims defence activities and coordinate with legal counsel where required.
- Evaluate vendors and contractors against environmental and safety criteria.
You will be an experienced EHS professional with strong leadership capabilities and a passion for driving continuous improvement within a manufacturing, engineering, or industrial environment.
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent degree-level qualification in Health & Safety, Environmental Management, or a related discipline.
- Strong understanding of health, safety, and environmental legislation and compliance requirements.
- Additional specialist training in areas such as Working at Height, Confined Spaces, Industrial Hygiene, or similar disciplines.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience leading EHS teams.
- Previous experience managing EHS functions within a smaller organisation and ready to step into a larger, more complex operational environment.
- Demonstrable success in delivering strategic safety culture improvements and behavioural safety initiatives.
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills at all organisational levels.
- Proven ability to prioritise and manage a varied workload using a risk-based approach.
