EHS Manager
EHS Manager
Environmental, Health \& Safety
Greyhound Recycling is one of Ireland's leading waste management and recycling companies. We're looking for an experienced EHS Manager to take ownership of environmental, health and safety performance across our operations, and to lead the team that keeps our people safe and our licence to operate secure.
If you want a role where your decisions are visible on the ground every day, not buried in a policy binder, this is it.
About the Role
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer / General Manager, you will lead Greyhound's environmental, health and safety function across our transport, MRF and site operations. You will own our EPA Waste Licence compliance, our health \& safety management system, and our approach to fire safety, incident investigation and contractor safety.
You will lead and develop our Safety \& Compliance Co\-ordinator team, and work closely with Operations, Transport, Fleet, HR and Commercial colleagues to build a genuinely strong safety culture, not just a compliant one.
What You'll Own
- Greyhound's EHS strategy, policies and management system across all sites and operations.
- EPA Waste Licence compliance, environmental monitoring and regulatory reporting.
- The health \& safety management system, in line with the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 and related regulations.
- Fire safety strategy and compliance across the MRF and other facilities, including fire risk assessments and corrective action programmes.
- Leadership and development of the Safety \& Compliance Co\-ordinator team, directing incident investigation, site inspections and compliance monitoring.
- The relationship with the HSA, EPA and other regulators, acting as Greyhound's lead contact for inspections and audits.
- Root\-cause investigation of serious incidents, making sure lessons get embedded, not just written up.
- Contractor and supplier safety approval, working with Compliance to ensure environmental and safety risk is properly assessed before any third party sets foot on site.
- EHS training, toolbox talks and induction programmes across the business.
- Regular reporting of EHS performance, risk and compliance status to senior leadership.
Essential:
- Significant experience in an EHS/HSEQ leadership role, ideally within waste, recycling, manufacturing, logistics or another regulated industrial sector.
- Strong working knowledge of Irish health \& safety legislation, EPA licensing and environmental compliance requirements.
- A track record of leading incident investigation and root\-cause analysis at a senior level.
- Experience leading and developing a team.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, comfortable influencing at senior leadership level and engaging confidently with regulators.
- NEBOSH Diploma (or working towards it), or an equivalent professional EHS qualification.
- Experience within waste management, recycling or MRF operations specifically.
- Fire safety or fire risk assessment experience.
- Chartered membership (or working towards it) of IOSH or an equivalent body.
- Direct experience managing EPA licence conditions.
This is a senior, hands\-on leadership role, not a policy\-writing desk job. You'll have genuine ownership of EHS strategy for one of Ireland's leading recycling operators, a direct line to the leadership team, and the scope to build a function that matches the scale of the business.
- A genuine seat at the leadership table, not just a reporting line to it.
- Career development and support to complete professional qualifications.
- Competitive salary, pension, and the other benefits you'd expect from a business that takes this seriously.
- Work that is visible and felt across the business, every single day.
At Greyhound Recycling, we are Generous, Grounded, Optimistic and Resourceful. We want someone who takes pride in doing things properly, is honest about what they find, and leads from the front when things get complicated.
