About us
Set in the Gloucestershire countryside between Gloucester and Cheltenham, Hatherley Manor is a historic country house hotel known for its warm hospitality, beautiful grounds, and memorable weddings, celebrations and events. The AA 4\-star hotel has 57 impressive en\-suite bedrooms including individually styled luxurious upgraded rooms all within the main Manor House and features an elegant Restaurant, a cosy Wood Burner warmed Lounge Bar within the original beams of the Manor and a brand new, state of the art Spa and Health Club. We're looking for a confident, guest\-focused Duty Manager to help lead our team and make every stay and occasion special.
The role
As Duty Manager, you'll be the senior point of contact on shift, overseeing the smooth running of the hotel across front of house, food and beverage, and events. You'll lead by example, support and motivate the team, and step in wherever needed to deliver an excellent guest experience.
Key responsibilities
- Taking charge of the hotel during your shift, ensuring all departments run smoothly and to a high standard
- Greeting guests, handling check\-ins and departures, and resolving queries or complaints promptly and professionally
- Supervising and supporting team members across reception, restaurant, bar and housekeeping
- Overseeing weddings, functions and events on the day, working closely with the events team and clients
- Carrying out opening and closing procedures, including cash handling, banking and security checks
- Ensuring compliance with health and safety, fire safety, food hygiene and licensing requirements
- Completing shift handovers, reports and incident logs accurately
- Assisting with staff training and day\-to\-day operational planning
- Proven food and beverage experience, ideally at supervisory or assistant manager level in a hotel, restaurant or events venue
- Good knowledge of wines, drinks and service standards, with a passion for great food and hospitality
- Calm, approachable and able to make good decisions under pressure
- A natural leader who enjoys motivating a team
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Flexible and able to work early and late shifts, weekends, bank holidays
- Own transport may be beneficial due to our rural location and shift times
Job Type: Full\-time
Pay: Up to £28,000\.00 per year
