Job overview
The post is for a qualified nurse who wants to further their experience and skills in surgical nursing mainly in urology field. The post holder is also expected to have a flexible “can do” approach in ensuring the work of the department is carried out to the required high standards. The post holder will be expected to demonstrate excellent clinical skills and teach other staff and learners. The post holder will also be expected to be an excellent role model and treat all staff, visitors and service users with tact and courtesy.
- The post holder will contribute to the continuous evaluation of systems to improve the service and meet targets.
- The post holder will mainly provide support to flexible cystoscopy treatment room.
- The post holder is expected to have experience in urology investigations and willingness to learn and achieve urological skills that are required in Flexible Cystoscopy procedures.
- The post holder will also assist in the routine daily planning and organisation of Day Treatment Centre Ward for clinical procedures and practice and participate in the department’s administration as required.
- The post holder will be responsible for the assessment of care needs, the development of programmes of care and their implementation and evaluation.
- The post holder will carry out all relevant forms of care.
- The post holder will be a qualified nurse and registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council with an up to date PIN number

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The post holder will:
- Wear uniform at all times, in accordance with the trust uniform policy.
- Interact with patients, visitors to the department, other members of the nursing team and managers in positive, supportive and co\-operative ways.
- Carry out such other reasonably related duties appropriate to the grade, as assigned by the the Theatre Matron, Ward Manager or nurse in charge.
- Be responsible for reporting their sick and annual leave in line with local and Trust policy.
- Undertake any other reasonable duty as directed to ensure the smooth running of the department.
All staff with clinical responsibilities are expected to work within the clinical governance arrangements agreed by the Trust. This is through an established framework through which clinical staff are continuously accountable for improving the quality of services and safeguarding high standards of care by creating an environment in which excellent care will flourish. All clinical staff are expected to maintain *appropriate* knowledge about, and involvement in, agreed strategies and programmes to continually improve their standards of clinical care through:

Education / Qualifications
Essential criteria
- RGN/RN
- Proof of Part 1 Registration with NMC
Desirable criteria
- Previous DTC / Theatre experience

- Able to work under minimum supervision
- Demonstrates awareness of the importance of working as part of the multidisciplinary team

- Good knowledge of all surgical specialties mainly urology
