A Fantastic Opportunity: DSO Engagement and Operations Optimisation Engineer
As a DSO Engagement and Operations Optimisation Engineer, you'll play a critical role in ensuring our network operates efficiently while helping customers navigate the challenges and opportunities of energy transition.
This is a unique opportunity to combine power systems engineering, operational analysis and stakeholder engagement in a role that directly influences how the electricity network evolves to support low\-carbon growth.
The Role
As part of our Distribution System Operator (DSO) team, you'll provide operational and analytical engineering support to both customers and internal teams. You'll use network data, power system analysis and operational insights to support existing connections, optimise network performance and help resolve complex operational issues.
You'll work closely with customers, planners, network operators and industry stakeholders to ensure constraints and curtailment are managed effectively, while contributing to the development of future network and DSO solutions.
What You'll Be Doing
In this role, you will be responsible for investigating and resolving customer issues related to flexible and non\-firm connections, curtailment, and operational access, while analysing operational network data to identify risks, trends, and opportunities for improvement. You will provide technical expertise on Flexible Connections, flexibility services, and active distribution network operation, assessing network performance and determining when issues require escalation for planning, network reinforcement, or scheme modification. The role also involves supporting customers in delivering low\-carbon generation, demand, and energy storage projects, as well as collaborating with DSO, Connections, and Strategic Planning teams to develop innovative network solutions that align with stakeholder energy plans. In addition, you will help enhance operational and flexibility data reporting, drive continuous improvement across DSO processes, and build strong relationships with customers, local authorities, utilities, and industry stakeholders to deliver excellent customer outcomes and support DSO incentive performance.
What We're Looking For
Strong understanding of GB electricity distribution networks across all voltage levels.
Knowledge of electricity distribution regulations, standards and industry frameworks.
Degree in Electrical Engineering
Experience supporting customers through energy system transitions and delivering technical customer support in complex environments
Experience using power system analysis tools such as IPSA and DINIS.
Understanding of operational network data and Active Network Management systems.
Ability to work effectively across multiple teams and manage a diverse range of stakeholders.
Power Systems Engineering specialisation.
Proven relevant industrial experience.
Knowledge of low\-carbon technologies, flexibility markets and local energy solutions.
