About the Role
Penn Contracting Ltd is seeking a reliable and organised Driver / Storeman to support day\-to\-day operations across multiple sites. The role will involve maintaining the company store, collecting and delivering materials from suppliers, and assisting site teams with logistics and general labour duties. This is a key support role to ensure projects run efficiently, materials are available when needed, and the company’s store is maintained to a high standard.
Key Objective
To ensure Penn Contracting Ltd sites are supplied efficiently, the company store is well organised, and project teams are supported effectively to maintain productivity and programme delivery.
Personal Specification
Essential:
- Experience driving a van (3\.5 tonne).
- Reliable, punctual and organised.
- Good knowledge of local suppliers and routes (Surrey / South East preferred).
- Physically fit and able to carry out manual handling duties.
- Positive, proactive attitude.
- Good communicator, customer focused, upholding quality brand reputation.
- Good organisational abilities, experience of working in a busy environment.
- Excellent Mobile Phone use, Apps, WhatsApp, Camera.
- Good IT skills, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook \& SharePoint.
- Enjoy working as part of a team but can self\-motivate.
- Experience within construction or building industry.
- Storeman or warehouse experience.
- Basic knowledge of building materials and tools.
- CSCS card.
Materials \& Logistics
- Collect materials from suppliers, merchants and manufacturers.
- Deliver materials, tools and equipment to sites as required.
- Ensure deliveries are completed efficiently and on time.
- Plan routes effectively to minimise downtime and fuel usage.
- Maintain a clean, organised and well\-run company store.
- Accurately store and label materials, tools and equipment.
- Monitor stock levels and report shortages to management.
- Assist with unloading, checking and organising deliveries.
- Ensure good housekeeping standards are maintained at all times.
- Assist site teams with loading, unloading and moving materials.
- Carry out general labouring duties where required.
- Support trades and site managers with ad hoc tasks.
- Ensure materials are delivered to site ready for use and correctly coordinated.
- Operate and maintain company or personal van safely.
- Carry out daily vehicle checks and ensure the vehicle is kept clean and presentable.
- Ensure safe loading and securing of materials during transport.
- Report any vehicle or equipment defects promptly.
- Work in accordance with Penn Contracting Ltd health \& safety procedures.
- Follow safe working practices at all times.
- Use PPE correctly when required.
- Ensure materials are handled safely and in line with site requirements.
- Full\-time, Permanent (preferably) or Freelance (to be agreed).
- · Competitive hourly rate / day rate (dependent on experience).
- Driving Licence (required).
- Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
- Adhering to Penn / Bright HR Policy and Procedures.
- Monday to Friday – 7:00am\-2:00pm.
- Flexibility required to support project demands and deliveries.
- You will be automatically enrolled into the Government NEST scheme.
- The holiday year is 1 Jan to 31 Dec and holiday entitlement is 28 days including Bank Holiday, subject to director approval.
