The Role
As a Dispatch Coordinator, you will be responsible for assigning collection jobs to drivers in real time, ensuring deadlines are met and vehicles are utilised efficiently.
You’ll be the key link between customers, drivers, and the operations team, reacting quickly to new bookings, delays, and changing priorities.
Key Responsibilities
- Allocate same\-day and scheduled collection jobs to drivers
- Manage driver workload and maximise fleet efficiency
- Monitor live jobs and driver progress throughout the day
- Respond quickly to urgent bookings and changes in demand
- Communicate clearly with drivers to ensure smooth collections
- Liaise with customer services regarding collection ETAs and updates
- Resolve issues such as delays, traffic disruptions, or missed collections
- Maintain accurate records using internal systems
- Support the wider operations team during busy periods
- Experience in courier, transport, or logistics operations
- Previous dispatch / allocation / controller experience
- Ability to work in a fast\-paced, reactive environment
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Confident using computer systems (TMS or booking systems preferred)
- Calm under pressure and able to prioritise effectively
- Experience in same\-day courier or multi\-drop operations
- Knowledge of UK road networks and driver routing basics
- Experience working with owner\-drivers or subcontractors
- Competitive salary: £34,850 \- £40,755 (depending on experience)
