Disability Support Worker

Job Summary / About the Role

I am looking for an empathetic, reliable Personal Assistant / Support Worker to assist me for 8 hours a week in Derby.

I am autistic and have been managing mental health challenges, so I am looking for someone who can offer practical day\-to\-day assistance alongside being completely comfortable meeting my sensory needs.

Key Responsibilities

Sensory Support: Comfortable and confident with meeting sensory needs, specifically delivering deep pressure touch (firm, static head and hand squeezes) to help with sensory regulation and grounding in my home sensory room.

Daily Living Support: Helping out with light domestic tasks around the house, including simple meal preparation, cooking, and basic cleaning.

Outings \& Activities: Accompanying me out into the community to help make busier environments feel manageable. Activities will include going to the cinema and going swimming (you must be comfortable getting into the water and swimming alongside me).

Requirements

DBS Check: Must hold a valid Enhanced DBS check (or be willing to undergo one).

Experience \& Training: Experience in autism and mental health support, or relevant training/certifications (e.g., Level 2/3 in Health \& Social Care or Autism Awareness).

Sensory Comfort: Must be comfortable and willing to provide deep pressure touch therapy as part of sensory regulation.

Comfortable being in a swimming pool/water.

Empathetic, calm, reliable, and respectful of personal boundaries.

Pay: £16\.00 per hour
