Working Hours: 37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year

Salary: £53,071 to £62,164

Annual Leave: 37 days per annum (excluding bank holidays and up to 3 additional discretionary days over the Christmas/New Year period)

As our Director of Phoenix \& Employability,youwill provide strategic leadership for the College’s adult education and commercial offer, driving income growth, employer engagement and outstanding learner outcomes.

The postholder will lead the development, delivery and expansion of a high\-quality, market\-responsive adult curriculum that meets regional skills needs, supports economic growth and delivers strong job outcomes. They will be accountable for commercial performance, quality of provision, and the effective leadership of curriculum and operational teams.

As a Director you will also contribute to the wider College strategy, ensuring alignment between commercial activity, curriculum delivery and employability outcomes; while maintaining a strong focus on quality, compliance and impact.

Responsibilities of our Director of Phoenix \& Employability:

• Lead the College’s adult education and commercial strategy, driving growth in adult provision, funded contracts and full\-cost delivery.


• Identify and secure new income streams including Adult Skills Fund (Devolved), Bootcamps, funded projects and employer\-led provision.


• Lead the development of high\-impact employer partnerships, working with regional and national stakeholders including employers, Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and Jobcentre Plus (JCP).


• Drive employer\-led curriculum design to ensure provision is relevant, responsive and aligned to labour market need.


• Ensure the delivery of high\-quality teaching, learning and assessment across all provision, with a clear focus on achievement, progression and job outcomes.


• Drive continuous quality improvement through robust self\-assessment, performance management and quality assurance processes.


• Provide strategic and operational leadership to Heads of Department and delivery teams, ensuring clarity of expectations, accountability and high performance.


• Monitor and drive KPIs including recruitment, retention, achievement, progression and financial performance.


• Hold full budget accountability, ensuring delivery against income targets and effective cost control.


• Ensure compliance with funding regulations, audit requirements and internal controls and use data to inform decision\-making, performance management and continuous improvement.

What we’re looking for in our Director of Phoenix \& Employability:

• Management qualification to Level 6 or equivalent; or willingness to undertake


• Cert Ed/PGCE or willingness to undertake


• Training or Assessing Qualification


• Well\-developed digital skills and experience of digital innovation


• Significant leadership experience in adult skills or commercial provision either in a Further Education or Private Training Provider.


• Proven track record of delivering income growth, employer engagement and commercial performance and experience of managing large budgets, contracts and complex provision.


• Experience of leading curriculum teams and improving quality, achievement and job outcomes.


• Experience of working regionally and nationally with partners such as DWP, JCP and employers


• Deep understanding of Adult Skills Funding, DWP programmes, Commercial offers and labour market needs.


• Highly data\-literate with the ability to use Management Information to drive performance and improvement.
