Millfield School is one of the UK's leading independent co\-educational boarding and day schools, set across 200 acres of Somerset countryside in Street, near Glastonbury. Founded in 1935, Millfield has long been a pioneer in education: it was among the first independent schools in the country to be co\-educational and the first to successfully support dyslexic students. Today, with over 1,300 students in the senior school and a further 440 at Millfield Prep, the school offers world\-leading teaching and coaching in an environment of extraordinary breadth and ambition. Millfield is not like other schools; it never has been. Its purpose is to discover brilliance in every child and to transform lives through education.

Philanthropy is woven into Millfield's founding story and the Director of Development is central to the work of broadening access to its transformational learning environment. Millfield is now seeking an exceptional Director of Development to lead this work at a pivotal moment in the school's history. Working closely with the Headmaster, Governors and the Millfield Foundation, this is a senior leadership role with real scope to build a culture of giving that will directly expand access to a Millfield education for talented young people from all backgrounds. The Director of Development will take a leading role in Millfield's 90th anniversary fundraising programme, developing ambitious plans across major gifts, regular giving, legacies and trusts, while personally stewarding a portfolio of principal and major gift prospects. They will also oversee alumni and stakeholder relations, maintaining and growing Millfield's engaged community of Old Millfieldians, parents and supporters both in the UK and overseas.

The successful candidate will be an experienced and entrepreneurial fundraiser with a track record of securing major gifts and building long\-term donor relationships. They will bring strategic vision, a strong understanding of fundraising best practice, and a genuine passion for the power of education to transform lives. Above all, they will share Millfield's values: Be kind, be authentic, be disruptors, be curious, be brilliant.
