Director of Business Services
As Transmission System Operator, EirGrid is at the heart of Ireland’s electricity system, ensuring that power flows safely and reliably from where it is generated to where it is needed. EirGrid manages the real\-time operation of the power system and oversees the wholesale electricity market, balancing supply and demand every second of the day. We strengthen system resilience through the development and operation of interconnectors to other countries and are also responsible for planning and developing the transmission network, investing in necessary upgrades and expansion to meet Ireland’s growing demand and support the transition to a low\-carbon future. Our role is expanding significantly to include operating, developing, and owning Ireland’s offshore transmission grid, a critical step in harnessing the potential of offshore wind energy.
The Opportunity
We are now seeking a Director of Business Services to join the Chief Corporate Services Office.
Reporting to the Chief Corporate Services Officer, this role will lead Transformation \& Central PMO, Supply Chain, and Facilities \& Property at a pivotal time of growth, ambition and change for EirGrid Group. This role will be central to building an integrated business services model that supports delivery of Strategy 2026, ensuring the organisation has the governance, capability and capacity required to deliver at pace and scale.
A key focus of the role will be to bring structure, discipline, visibility and momentum to transformation delivery through a strong Central PMO, while ensuring supply chain capability and facilities infrastructure evolve to support long\-term organisational growth.
The Team
The Chief Corporate Services Office enables delivery of EirGrid’s strategy through strong collaboration with Government, regulators, customers and stakeholders.
The Business Services function brings together core enabling capabilities across transformation delivery, procurement and supply chain, and facilities and property, supporting organisational performance, resilience and long\-term growth.
Key Responsibilities* Provide strategic leadership across Transformation \& Central PMO, Supply Chain, and Facilities \& Property, ensuring each function is high\-performing, well governed and aligned to organisational priorities
- Lead the development of an integrated business services model that delivers consistency, efficiency, control and service quality across the organisation
- Oversee transformation delivery and portfolio governance through a strong Central PMO, ensuring programmes are prioritised effectively and delivered with discipline against milestones, risks, dependencies and benefits
- Drive a culture of delivery excellence, transformation discipline and continuous improvement, providing visibility, challenge and support across major programmes and enterprise priorities
- Lead the Supply Chain function, ensuring robust procurement, sourcing, supplier management and commercial governance arrangements that support organisational performance and resilience
- Develop strategic supply chain capability, ensuring supplier relationships, market insight, commercial governance and risk management are proactively managed in line with business needs
- Lead the Facilities \& Property function, ensuring workplace environments, services and infrastructure are safe, efficient, scalable and aligned to organisational growth and workforce requirements
- Oversee long\-term planning for facilities and property, ensuring decisions support business continuity, sustainability objectives and evolving infrastructure needs
- Provide leadership and direction through senior managers, building capability, driving accountability and fostering collaboration across functions and the wider organisation
- Act as a senior advisor to the Executive team on transformation delivery, portfolio governance, supply chain strategy and business services capability
Successful candidates will have:* Significant senior leadership experience gained in a complex, regulated or infrastructure\-intensive environment, with a strong track record of leading multifunctional business services teams
- Extensive experience across transformation delivery, PMO, supply chain, procurement, facilities management, property or central business services, with the ability to lead integrated functions at scale
- Strong experience building governance, performance and delivery disciplines across complex programmes, portfolios or enterprise functions
- Demonstrated experience leading procurement or supply chain activity, including supplier oversight, commercial governance and risk management in a regulated or infrastructure environment
- Experience in facilities and property leadership, including workplace operations, planning and service delivery within a growing organisation
- Excellent strategic thinking, leadership and decision\-making capability, with the ability to align operational services to enterprise strategy and business priorities
- Strong people leadership capability, including experience leading through senior managers, developing talent and building high\-performing, collaborative teams
- Strong understanding of governance, compliance, controls and risk management, with the judgement to balance efficiency, resilience and service quality
