The Role
We are looking for a highly experienced Director Legal to lead our Legal function at Lucanet. This role sits at the center of a fast\-moving, commercially driven SaaS business and will take full ownership of Legal operations across the organization. The focus is on bringing clarity, structure, and efficiency to a high\-volume legal environment, while acting as a trusted and business\-oriented partner to Sales, Product, and other core functions. You will lead a lean Legal team setup and define how Legal supports the business in a scalable and pragmatic way. Beyond operational excellence, you are expected to drive modernization of the Legal function through automation, process improvements, and the adoption of AI and Legal Tech tools.
What you'll do
- Take full ownership of the Legal function, ensuring efficient and business\-aligned legal support across all areas of the company.
- Lead and structure a lean Legal team, defining clear responsibilities, workflows, and priorities.
- Manage and optimize high\-volume contracting processes, with a strong focus on SaaS customer agreements and commercial negotiations.
- Act as a strategic and pragmatic business partner to the Business, supporting topics such as contract negotiations, data privacy, and product\-related legal matters.
- Drive fast, risk\-aware decision\-making, balancing legal rigor with business needs.
- Increase overall efficiency and scalability of the Legal function, reducing bottlenecks and unnecessary complexity.
- Introduce and implement AI, Legal Tech, and automation solutions to modernize legal workflows and reduce manual workload.
- Take ownership of Corporate Law and Corporate Housekeeping topics, including entity structures, filings, and governance processes.
- Support and prepare Due Diligence activities.
- Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and confidently lead discussions across senior business levels.
What you bring to the table
- 8–10\+ years of professional experience in Legal, ideally in a fast\-paced, international SaaS or technology environment.
- Strong expertise in contract law, particularly in SaaS and commercial agreements.
- International experience or exposure and solid foundation in German law (especially contract law), with the ability to operate confidently in a German legal context.
- Fully qualified legal background, ideally with at least one completed State Exam (two preferred but not required).
- Proven ability to operate at Director level, combining strategic thinking with hands\-on execution.
- A highly pragmatic, business\-oriented mindset with the ability to prioritize effectively and make decisions in complex environments.
- Strong emotional resilience and composure, with the ability to stay focused and solution\-oriented under pressure.
- A balanced approach to risk management, with the confidence to take ownership and drive outcomes.
- Demonstrated interest in and affinity for AI, automation, and Legal Tech; openness to rethink and modernize traditional legal processes.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to challenge, influence, and align senior business partners.
- Outstanding communication skills in English, written and verbal, with the ability to distill complexity into crisp, executive\-ready outputs.
- German language skills are a plus, but strong understanding of German legal frameworks is essential.
