Digital Marketing and Technology Trustee

That\`s why, as a charity, we care for over a million objects and hundreds of historic sites in every part of England, from international icons to local treasures. And it\`s why we open them up, share their stories and find new ways for everybody to enjoy, learn, play and create.
We are recruiting for a trustee to assist with the development and use of digital technology to enhance our marketing and visitor experience and create value from our extraordinary collection of material, which is underutilised at present.
Required experience, attributes and skills
The ideal candidate would demonstrate all or some of the following:
- The use of data to build customer relationships.
- Experience of successful digital marketing campaigns to attract customers
- An understanding of the opportunity and risks of emerging technologies such as AI and WR.
- An understanding of the role of a non\-executive Trustee in a major charity.
- An ability to explore English Heritage\`s collections to advise on using multimedia and multi\-channel methods to realise the full public benefit of the collection both to improve accessibility and interest, and to drive commercial opportunity.
- An understanding of and enthusiasm for English Heritage\`s work and a commitment to English Heritage\`s charitable purpose, vision and values.
- Understanding of the role of a Trustee and how Trustees interact with English Heritage\`s executive Senior Leadership Team to best effect.
- Strong inter\-personal and relationship building abilities and the ability to work effectively as a member of a team.
- A commitment to Nolan's Principles of Public Life: selflessness, integrity, objectivity, accountability, openness, honesty and leadership.
- Having the time and focus to ensure the role can be fulfilled to the highest standard.

Responsibilities
As Trustee of English Heritage, you will be responsible for ensuring that English Heritage carries out its charitable purpose for the public benefit; delivers its charitable objectives; remains solvent and properly managed; and complies with all relevant legislation and governance best practice.
Some employers encourage and enable trusteeship at other organisations as part of wider career development and corporate social responsibility.
Time commitment
The Board has four meetings a year and an annual discussion day, usually in London and all planned well in advance. In addition, it has one or two regional visits a year to English Heritage sites which may involve an overnight stay (though of course Trustees are encouraged to visit sites independently). Trustees are usually expected to participate in one of the charity\`s sub\-committees (at present these are the Remuneration Committee; Nominations Committee; and Audit and Risk Committee; in addition, there is the London Blue Plaques Panel.
Further, Trustees may be asked to advise the executive on specific issues from time to time and will be invited to attend events such as capital project launches, cultivation events and blue plaques unveilings.
Terms of appointment
Initial appointments are made for four years and Trustees are eligible for reappointment for a further term. The role is unremunerated, but all reasonable expenses (such as for travel and childcare) are claimable.

We\`ll give you a full induction and ongoing development, including sessions at selected Board meetings about our work and the Trustee role. An experienced English Heritage Trustee will be your mentor for your first year.
