Role Summary
The Digital Business Development Manager is a hands\-on, commercially focused leadership role responsible for driving revenue growth and business expansion through digital platforms. This role ensures that teams, workflows, and systems are aligned to achieve measurable business outcomes, including online sales growth, customer acquisition, and operational efficiency.
The post\-holder will combine digital operations leadership with commercial and growth strategy, ensuring that platform performance, team capability, and customer experience contribute to increased revenue, market reach, and profitability. This is a senior role requiring experience in digital marketplaces, e\-commerce platforms, and revenue\-driven operational initiatives.
The role operates with a high degree of autonomy, contributing directly to commercial decision\-making, growth strategy, and revenue planning, while reporting to the Director on performance and strategic outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
*Digital Growth \& Business Development Support*
- Lead initiatives to increase online revenue, expand market share, and drive customer acquisition through digital channels.
- Develop and maintain B2B partnerships and commercial relationships to support platform growth and revenue targets.
- Provide commercial and operational insights to optimise platform utilisation, pricing, and sales performance.
- Identify opportunities for new revenue streams, product expansion, and online offerings.
- Lead external business development activity including identification, negotiation, and onboarding of new commercial partners, suppliers, and distribution opportunities.
- Represent the business in commercial discussions with third\-party platforms, wholesalers, logistics partners, and technology providers.
- Negotiate commercial terms and agreements to support revenue growth and market expansion.
- Develop and deliver revenue growth strategies for digital and online channels, ensuring alignment with overall company targets.
- Prepare detailed sales forecasts, revenue projections, and growth models for senior management review.
- Identify pricing, promotional, and bundling opportunities to improve digital sales performance and average order value.
- Evaluate the commercial viability of new digital initiatives through structured business cases and ROI analysis.
- Oversee commercial performance of digital platforms, focusing on revenue growth, partner contribution, and customer acquisition rather than day\-to\-day technical operations.
- Collaborate with marketing teams to improve conversion rates, engagement, and repeat purchases.
- Monitor online performance metrics and recommend initiatives to maximise revenue and operational efficiency.
- Develop strategies to grow the online customer base through digital channels, partnerships, and targeted campaigns.
- Analyse customer acquisition costs, lifetime value, and retention metrics to inform commercial decisions.
- Support the development of loyalty initiatives, referral programmes, and repeat\-purchase strategies.
- Work with marketing teams to ensure digital marketing activity supports defined business development objectives, while retaining ownership of commercial growth strategy.
- Hold delegated responsibility for managing and controlling the e\-commerce operational budget, including fulfilment, technology, and third\-party platform costs, in line with Director\-approved financial authority.
- Partner with finance and commercial teams to improve online margins, cost\-to\-serve, and profitability.
- Develop business cases for digital investment and growth initiatives.
- Build and lead cross\-functional teams to deliver digital growth, achieve revenue targets, and improve customer experience.
- Embed a performance\-driven, digitally capable culture to support growth initiatives.
- Lead change management initiatives linked to digital adoption and new ways of working.
- Own online customer experience to support retention, acquisition, and revenue growth.
- Implement digital quality controls, customer feedback loops, and service improvement programmes.
- Work closely with marketing and customer service to improve online engagement and retention.
*Qualifications*
- Degree or equivalent in Business, Operations, E\-Commerce, Digital Transformation, or Technology\-related discipline.
- Professional certifications in digital, project management, or process improvement (e.g. Agile, PRINCE2, Lean, Six Sigma) desirable.
- 5–7 years’ experience in business development, commercial growth, or digital/e\-commerce growth roles, including experience working at a senior management level.
- Proven experience developing and delivering digital or e\-commerce growth strategies.
- Demonstrable success in identifying new markets, partnerships, or revenue streams.
- Experience working with senior stakeholders and contributing to strategic decision\-making.
- Strong commercial acumen, aligning operations with business growth objectives.
- Data\-driven decision\-making with experience using dashboards and BI tools.
- Leadership in operational delivery, digital transformation, and cross\-functional coordination.
