Base Salary: £16\.21 – £18\.50 per hour (£38,035\.61 – £43,409\.05 per annum)

Estimated Gratuities: \+£0\.95 per hour (\~£2,223\.00 per annum in tips)

Total Package Value: Up to £45,632\.05 per annum

We are seeking a driven Designate General Manager to join our management team, with responsibility for supporting the successful day\-to\-day operation of our venues and working across the group as required. You’ll be expected to lead from the front, drive commercial performance, develop your team and maintain consistently high operational standards, while adapting to different teams, venues and trading environments.

The role will involve providing management support, covering operational requirements and taking responsibility for different venues as business needs change. Flexibility is therefore essential, along with the ability to quickly adapt to different teams, locations and operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operational Leadership: Take full responsibility for the day\-to\-day running of the venue, ensuring consistently high standards across food, drink, service, cleanliness, compliance and overall guest experience.

  • Team Management: Lead, motivate and develop the team, ensuring effective communication, appropriate training, performance management and a positive working environment across all departments.

  • Guest Experience: Maintain exceptional standards of food, drink, service and surroundings, ensuring every guest receives the best possible drinking and dining experience.

  • Financial \& Commercial Management: Take responsibility for sales, labour costs, GP, wastage, stock control and other key financial areas to maximise venue performance and profitability.

  • People Development: Develop and retain a strong team, supporting performance appraisals, training and progression while identifying future talent and opportunities for promotion from within.

  • Health \& Safety Compliance: Maintain high standards of health, safety, food safety, licensing and compliance, using our digital compliance systems to ensure the venue operates safely and effectively.

  • Operational Standards: Ensure company procedures, policies and standards are consistently followed across all areas of the business, taking action where improvements are required.

  • Leadership \& Communication: Lead by example and ensure all departments work effectively together, creating a positive culture where communication and teamwork are key to the success of the venue.

  • Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement opportunities to improve operational processes, team performance, guest experience and commercial results.
Requirements
  • MUST HAVE – General Management Experience: Proven experience working as a General Manager within a hospitality environment, with responsibility for the overall operation and performance of a venue.

  • MUST HAVE – High\-Volume Hospitality Experience: Proven experience working within a busy, high\-volume pub, restaurant, gastro pub or similar hospitality operation.

  • Leadership: Confident and capable of leading, motivating and developing a team in a fast\-paced hospitality environment.

  • Commercial Awareness: Strong understanding of sales, labour costs, stock control, GP, wastage and the commercial aspects of running a successful hospitality operation.

  • Guest Experience: Passionate about delivering exceptional food, drink, service and surroundings, with a strong understanding of what creates a memorable guest experience.

  • Operational Management: Highly organised and capable of managing multiple priorities while maintaining high standards across all areas of the business.

  • People Management: Proven ability to recruit, train, manage performance and develop a strong team, creating a positive and accountable working environment.

  • Work Ethic: Punctual, reliable, organised and comfortable working standard hospitality shift patterns across weekdays, evenings, weekends and busy trading periods.

  • Communication: Excellent communication skills with a team\-first mindset and the ability to remain calm, professional and effective under pressure.

  • Accountability: Comfortable taking full ownership of the venue, making decisions confidently and being accountable for operational, commercial and people performance.

  • Flexibility: Willing and able to work across any Distinctive Inns venue as required, adapting to different teams, locations and operational requirements.
