Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Dental Nurse to join our dental practice. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting dentists during procedures, ensuring patient comfort, and maintaining high standards of hygiene and organisation within the clinic. Duties
- Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures, ensuring smooth operation and patient safety
- Prepare treatment rooms, sterilise instruments, and maintain hygiene standards in accordance with health regulations (WHTM01\-05\)
- Provide support to patients before, during, and after treatments, including explaining procedures and offering reassurance
- Manage patient records accurately using IT systems, ensuring confidentiality and organisation (Dentally)
- Develop Digital dental X\-rays as required, adhering to safety protocols
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments and managing patient correspondence
- Ensure the clinic remains clean, organised, and well\-stocked with necessary supplies
- Communicate effectively with patients and team members to foster a welcoming environment
- Follow daily and weekly checklists for both decon and surgeries
- Providing chairside assistance to dentists during all clinical procedures;
- Preparing and maintaining clinical equipment and instruments to the required standards;
- Ensuring strict compliance with infection control protocols including decontamination and sterilization procedures;
- Maintaining accurate, contemporaneous patient records in accordance with GDC standards;
- Managing stock control and ordering of clinical supplies within your area of responsibility;
- Maintaining cleanliness and organization of clinical areas to CQC/HIW standards;
- Assisting with decontamination procedures and maintaining decontamination records;
- Supervising and mentoring trainee dental nurses where required;
- Supporting reception duties when required as part of team operations;
- Participating in emergency procedures and maintaining emergency equipment;
- Any other reasonable duties appropriate to your role as a qualified dental nurse.
- Proven experience in patient care within a healthcare or dental setting is desirable
- Good command of English, both spoken and written, for effective communication with patients and staff
- Knowledge of nursing principles relevant to dental care
- Familiarity with IT systems used in healthcare environments for record keeping and appointment management
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to reassure anxious patients
- Happy to be on camera for social media
- Organisational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a busy practice
- Ability to work as part of a team while also demonstrating initiative when required
- Relevant qualifications in dental nursing or equivalent recognised training are preferred
