Dental Nurse

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Dental Nurse to join our dental practice. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting dentists during procedures, ensuring patient comfort, and maintaining high standards of hygiene and organisation within the clinic. Duties

• Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures, ensuring smooth operation and patient safety


• Prepare treatment rooms, sterilise instruments, and maintain hygiene standards in accordance with health regulations (WHTM01\-05\)


• Provide support to patients before, during, and after treatments, including explaining procedures and offering reassurance


• Manage patient records accurately using IT systems, ensuring confidentiality and organisation (Dentally)


• Develop Digital dental X\-rays as required, adhering to safety protocols


• Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments and managing patient correspondence


• Ensure the clinic remains clean, organised, and well\-stocked with necessary supplies


• Communicate effectively with patients and team members to foster a welcoming environment


• Follow daily and weekly checklists for both decon and surgeries


• Providing chairside assistance to dentists during all clinical procedures;


• Preparing and maintaining clinical equipment and instruments to the required standards;


• Ensuring strict compliance with infection control protocols including decontamination and sterilization procedures;


• Maintaining accurate, contemporaneous patient records in accordance with GDC standards;


• Managing stock control and ordering of clinical supplies within your area of responsibility;


• Maintaining cleanliness and organization of clinical areas to CQC/HIW standards;


• Assisting with decontamination procedures and maintaining decontamination records;


• Supervising and mentoring trainee dental nurses where required;


• Supporting reception duties when required as part of team operations;


• Participating in emergency procedures and maintaining emergency equipment;


• Any other reasonable duties appropriate to your role as a qualified dental nurse.

Requirements

• Proven experience in patient care within a healthcare or dental setting is desirable


• Good command of English, both spoken and written, for effective communication with patients and staff


• Knowledge of nursing principles relevant to dental care


• Familiarity with IT systems used in healthcare environments for record keeping and appointment management


• Excellent communication skills with the ability to reassure anxious patients


• Happy to be on camera for social media


• Organisational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a busy practice


• Ability to work as part of a team while also demonstrating initiative when required


• Relevant qualifications in dental nursing or equivalent recognised training are preferred
