We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Daytime SEND Tutor for our Alternate Provision programme. The successful candidate will support children with special educational needs, fostering a positive learning environment that encourages development and confidence. This role involves delivering tailored educational support during school hours, working closely with pupils to enhance their academic and behavioural progress. The ideal applicant will possess strong communication skills, experience in special education, and a genuine passion for working with children with diverse needs.
Responsibilities
- Deliver personalised tutoring sessions in core subjects such as Maths and Early Childhood Education, adapting approaches to meet individual needs.
- Support children with speech therapy exercises and applied behaviour analysis techniques to promote communication and social skills.
- Assist with behaviour management strategies to create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment.
- Provide mentoring and emotional support to pupils, encouraging positive behaviour and self\-esteem.
- Collaborate with teaching staff, therapists, and parents to develop and implement tailored learning plans.
- Support the development of physical education activities and toddler or preschool care routines as required.
- Proofread educational materials to ensure clarity and appropriateness for learners with SEND.
- Contribute to the planning of engaging activities that promote holistic development, including childcare and preschool experiences.
- Previous experience working with children in early childhood education, special education, or tutoring roles.
- Knowledge of speech therapy techniques, behaviour management strategies, and applied behaviour analysis is highly desirable.
- Proven ability to adapt teaching methods for children with diverse learning needs.
- Experience in mentoring or childcare settings, including toddler care or preschool environments.
- Strong communication skills essential for effective interaction with pupils, colleagues, and families.
