Data Protection & Information Rights Coordinator
Contract: Fixed Term 12 months

Hours: Monday to Thursday 8am-4pm, Friday 8am-3.30pm

Are you highly organised, detail-focused and confident handling sensitive information?

We're looking for a Data Protection & Information Rights Coordinator to join our Central Services team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong administration, compliance, governance, legal support, HR or education sector experience who enjoys managing multiple priorities and ensuring processes are followed accurately.

In this role, you will help ensure personal information is handled securely, professionally and in accordance with data protection legislation. You will play a key role in coordinating Subject Access Requests (SARs), Freedom of Information (FOI) requests, data protection activities and compliance processes across the organisation.

What you'll be doing

  • Managing Subject Access Requests from receipt through to completion.

  • Gathering information from multiple teams and systems.

  • Reviewing and preparing documents for disclosure, including redaction where required.

  • Coordinating Freedom of Information requests and monitoring statutory deadlines.

  • Supporting the investigation and recording of data breaches and incidents.

  • Assisting with Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs).

  • Maintaining records of processing activities and compliance registers.

  • Keeping policies, privacy notices and guidance documents up to date.

  • Supporting GDPR training and awareness activities.

  • Producing reports and maintaining accurate case records and audit trails.

  • Working closely with colleagues across schools, services and central teams to ensure compliance with data protection requirements.

What we're looking for
  • Experience within an administrative, compliance, governance, legal, HR, education or similarly regulated environment.

  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.

  • Experience handling confidential and sensitive information.

  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Confidence using Microsoft 365, including Outlook, Word and Excel.

  • The ability to work independently, exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality at all times.

  • A proactive and professional approach with excellent problem-solving skills.

Desirable experience
  • Subject Access Requests (SARs).

  • GDPR or data protection compliance.

  • Freedom of Information requests.

  • Data breach management.

  • Document review and redaction.

  • Education, public sector, NHS or local authority environments.

  • Data Protection and Information Governance qualifications.
