The Company

Echelon Data Centres was established in 2017 by the main principal of Aldgate Developments, a leading commercial property developer and owner of major commercial office buildings in Central London and Dublin. The objective was developing, operating, and owning a network of large\-scale, responsibly designed, sustainably powered data centre campuses across the world to meet the rapidly expanding global demand for hyperscale data processing and storage solutions.

Echelon currently has seven Data Centre facilities either operational or in development across Ireland, the United Kingdom, and Spain with a combined capacity of approximately 1\.25GW. The recent acquisition of a prime 37\-acre site in Italy, marks the next step of Echelon’s expansion into Continental Europe.

We are now seeking to strengthen and grow our function in across Security Operations team by recruiting an experienced Data Centre Security Manager. This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to further their career in a highly motivated and inspirational environment.

The Role

The Data Centre Security Manager is responsible for daily physical security operations across a data centre campus, ensuring consistent implementation of established security policies, standards, and runbooks. They provide on\-site leadership for the contract guard force and local security processes, acting as the primary operational liaison between the Head of Security, site operations teams, and security vendors.

*Key Objectives*

  • Maintain a safe and secure environment for our people, critical infrastructure, and information across all buildings within the campus

  • Ensure consistent execution of physical security SOPs, runbooks, and post orders in line with ISO 27001 physical and environmental controls and other audit requirements

  • Drive guard\-force performance, incident response quality, and service\-level adherence through visible leadership, coaching, and operational oversight
Responsibilities

*Security Operations*

  • Oversee daily delivery of physical security services across all campus buildings and perimeters

  • Act as the first operational escalation point for security issues, alarms, and incidents before escalation to Head of Security and senior leadership as required

  • Coordinate with Data Centre operations, facilities, health and safety, and projects to ensure security is factored into maintenance, outages, and construction activities

  • Administer campus\-level access control in line with the central security policy and runbook, including badge requests, approvals, terminations, and access reviews

  • Ensure correct operation and local troubleshooting of access control, alarm, and CCTV systems, liaising with vendors and internal teams for faults and upgrades

  • Conduct regular spot checks and audits of critical areas, high risk access groups, and visitor/contractor access processes
Access Control and CCTV
  • Administer campus\-level access control in line with the central security policy and runbook, including badge requests, approvals, terminations and access reviews

  • Ensure correct operation and local troubleshooting of access control and CCTV systems

  • Liaising with vendors and internal teams for system faults and upgrades

  • Conduct regular spot checks and audits of critical areas, making recommendations to the Head of Security
*Guard Force Management*
  • Provide daily leadership, direction, and feedback to contract security providers

  • Monitor roster coverage, post compliance, appearance and conduct, and adherence to SOPs, runbooks, and visitor procedures

  • Support the Head of Security and vendor manager with KPI reviews, performance issues, coaching plans, and input into contract reviews
Incident Management and Reporting
  • Lead initial on\-site response to physical security incidents and alarms, ensuring calm and professional management of situations

  • Coordinate immediate containment, fact\-finding, and documentation, escalating to Head of Security for serious or high\-impact events

  • Complete high\-quality incident reports, ensure follow\-up actions are tracked, and support root\-cause analysis and corrective actions
Compliance, Audits and ISO 27001
  • Support implementation of ISO 27001 Annex A physical controls at campus level, ensuring procedures and records meet audit expectations

  • Maintain accurate logs and records including access logs, visitor records, incident reports, patrol logs, key registers, and training records for internal and external audits (ISO, SOC, client audits)

  • Facilitate campus walk\-throughs, inspections, and audits by internal risk/compliance teams, customers, and certifying bodies
*Training, Drills and Awareness*
  • Deliver and coordinate security induction and refresher training as required

  • Organize and participate in drills and exercises

  • Reinforce physical security expectations and standards
*Continuous Improvement and Projects*
  • Identify operational vulnerabilities, process gaps, and recurring issues at the campus and propose pragmatic mitigations to the Head of Security

  • Support security\-related projects including system upgrades, new builds, retrofits, and perimeter enhancements with local coordination, testing, and acceptance activities

  • Contribute to the refinement of SOPs, runbooks, and post orders based on operational feedback, while policy ownership stays with the Head of Security
*Key Interfaces*

Internal: Head of Security, Data Centre Campus Managers, Facilities/Engineering, Health and Safety, Projects/Construction, IT/Networks, Compliance/ISO teams

External: Contract security vendor management, technology vendors (access control/CCTV/alarm), local emergency services, auditors, and key customer representatives during site visits

Experience and Qualifications

  • 3–5 years' experience in physical security operations, ideally in Data Centre’s, critical infrastructure, or similarly high\-availability environments

  • Demonstrated experience supervising or leading security teams (shift lead, supervisor, or manager level) in a multi\-building or campus setting

  • Familiarity with ISO 27001 and other relevant standards (e.g. SOC 2, PCI physical controls) and how they translate into site level procedures

  • Strong working knowledge of electronic access control, CCTV, intrusion detection, and visitor management systems

  • For Ireland: Valid PSA license (or eligibility to obtain), and understanding of local guarding legislation and best practice
