Minimum qualifications:


  • Associate's degree, trade school certification, or other certified training in a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 7 years of experience in facilities within a critical environment.

  • Ability to work non\-standard hours, including working weekends, and holidays.

  • Ability to perform material handling (lifting/shifting) and work on platforms, ladders, and under raised floors.

  • Driving license Category B.

Preferred qualifications:


  • 10 years of experience with electrical and mechanical systems used in an industrial or data center environment (e.g., feeders, transformers, generators, switchgear, UPS systems, ATS/STS units, PDU/power management module (PMM) units, chillers, air handling units, and CRAC units).

  • Experience in mid to large projects, on commisiooning or design roles.

  • Understanding of PUE/WUE and energy efficiencies of a plant.

  • Ability to communicate with contractors who perform maintenance or upgrade work on the data center systems.

  • Ability to work on shift\-based schedules.

  • Ability to communicate in Dutch fluently to engage in day\-to\-day operations, and with colleagues.

The Data Center team designs and operates some of the most sophisticated electrical engineering, mechanical engineering and HVAC systems in the world. Facilities Technicians at Google data centers operate, monitor and support physical facilities conditions. Some of these duties will include heating and cooling of air and water, power supply, generators, UPS systems, electrical distribution and control and monitoring systems. You regularly help inspect, maintain and repair various data center systems such as piping and non\-critical electrical or mechanical system components).

As an advocate for best practices, you develop creative approaches to reducing operational costs while improving overall data center efficiency. You ensure that environmental and safety standards are consistently met, identifying problems and making repairs quickly. In emergency situations or abnormal conditions, you manage data center performance issues and outages to minimize the recovery time from failures.

In this role, you are a leader of environmental practices. The Data Center team designs and operates some of the most efficient electrical and HVAC systems, using less energy than most data centers around the world. Our engineers are continually seeking different approaches to reducing operational costs while improving efficiencies through the operation and maintenance of low\-voltage (LV), medium\-voltage (MV), and high\-voltage (HV) electrical systems, as well as control and monitoring systems.

  • Monitor plant efficiency (PUE/WUE) at a data center. Act as an onsite technical lead in these efficiency areas and work with technicians, leads, and managers to drive site\-level programs.

  • Take an approach in EHS, operations, and maintenance programs to focus on compliance with those program requirements.

  • Navigate organizational change processes, including providing site\-level feedback, ensuring appropriate Subject Matter Expert (SMEs) are included, coordinating with other managers to execute approved decisions, and properly closing out technical bugs.

  • Direct site teams in DC commissioning processes and procedures, commissioning or retesting requirements following replacement or major repairs, and act as a site lead in collaborating with quality on quality issues or concerns.

  • Provide technical direction or input on quality or reliability issues at a site or that affect multiple sites across the globe or region.
