• The role entails maintaining, evolving, and stewarding the existing data platform while acting as a hands‑on architect who designs, implements, and operates a comprehensive tooling ecosystem that ensures reliability, observability, and compliance

Your Main Activities Are

• Develop and maintain the data product catalogue, lineage, and metadata standards, Metadata and Semantic Layer


• Design, implement, and continuously improve a centralized metadata repository


• Define and enforce semantic models, particularly business vocabularies, canonical data entities and logical data contracts that translate raw tables into understandable business objects


• Maintain lineage graphs that are automatically refreshed on each pipeline run


• Coordinate efforts with wider bank initiatives related to metadata


• Governance, Transparency and Compliance, which involves providing transparent dashboards for data lineage, access logs, and data quality health that are consumable by business users, auditors, and regulators


• Lead quarterly data governance reviews, focusing on data ownership and access


• Integrate with broader data governance initiatives


• Tooling and Automation, which consists in implementing self\-service data product templates that embed semantic metadata automatically


• Introduce observability for data pipelines and lineage updates


• Collaboration and knowledge sharing, which involves working with domain owners to capture business definitions and map them to technical entities


• Conduct regular sessions on metadata best practices


• Mentor engineers on embedding semantic annotations


• Performance and cost optimisation, meaning continuously monitor query latency, storage consumption, and compute capabilities


• Propose and implement cost saving actions, particularly partitioning, clustering and caching

Profile and Skills to Success

• Master’s degree in engineering or computer science


• Fluency in English, both oral and written


• 3 years of experience in Data Platform Operations, particularly operating large‑scale data databases, lakes or warehouses


• Proven experience building and maintaining a data catalogue and lineage system, such as Datahub, Amundsen, Collibra and Alation


• Ability to design business‑level vocabularies, canonical data models, and data contracts; experience with Data Mesh or domain‑oriented data products. Experience with formal verification


• Hands‑on experience with ML‑based profiling tools, such as Great Expectations \+ ML, Monte Carlo, Datafold and Bigeye or the ability to develop custom models, for anomaly detection


• Knowledge of data‑privacy frameworks; experience creating transparent audit trails


• Tooling and Automation, which includes CI and CD, such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI and Jenkins, dbt v0\.21\+, Airflow, Dagster and Prefect


• Python, which includes pandas and pyarrow, SQL and columnar databases


• Prometheus, Grafana, Open Telemetry, or equivalent for pipeline monitoring


• Track record of mentoring engineers and translating technical metadata concepts to business audiences
