Reports To Enterprise Architecture Lead

Role Purpose The Technical Architect is responsible for defining, designing, and governing the technical architecture for new solutions and enhancements within a Microsoft Power Platform ecosystem.

This role involves interpreting complex business and technical requirements and translating them into clear, scalable, and robust architectural designs aligned with organisational standards. The Technical Architect will ensure that all solutions meet both business objectives and technical governance requirements.

Working collaboratively across Digital Services, the role engages with stakeholders at all levels as well as external implementation partners to ensure the successful delivery of integrated and sustainable technology solutions.

Key Responsibilities • Analyse business and technical requirements, aligning them with the organisation's enterprise architecture to define appropriate solution approaches

  • Design end-to-end solution architectures, breaking down complex initiatives into structured, deliverable components

  • Produce high-quality architectural artefacts, including diagrams, technical documentation, and design specifications

  • Assess and clearly communicate technical risks, constraints, and trade-offs to stakeholders

  • Develop functional designs and prototype-level representations using appropriate modelling tools and techniques

  • Ensure technical delivery aligns with agreed architectural standards and designs, escalating issues where necessary

  • Troubleshoot and resolve architectural and integration issues across build, test, and live environments

  • Collaborate with external vendors and delivery partners to ensure compliance with architectural principles and standards

Technical Skills • Degree (or equivalent experience) in IT, Computer Science, or a related discipline
  • Strong understanding of Microsoft technologies, particularly Power Platform and Dynamics 365, and their integration with enterprise systems

  • Knowledge of integration patterns across legacy and modern architectures

  • Familiarity with technologies such as C#, JavaScript, SQL, and enterprise platforms (e.g. SAP, Oracle)

  • Experience designing and troubleshooting complex, distributed systems

  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences

Experience • Significant experience (typically 5+ years) in a Technical Architect or similar role
  • Proven track record of translating business requirements into effective technical and solution architectures

  • Experience across key architecture domains, including integration, security, and transitional architecture

  • Hands-on involvement in solution design, governance, and implementation oversight
