Based in Hazlemere, High Wycombe
Covering Buckinghamshire, Berkshire, Oxfordshire and surrounding areas
£30,000–£32,000 depending on experience
Company vehicle, laptop and mobile phone provided
40 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Great with people? Brilliant at sorting things out? Ready for your next step into management?

We’re not necessarily looking for someone who has already been an Area Manager.

We’re looking for someone who has the potential to become a really good one.

You might currently be a Cleaning Supervisor, Team Leader, Deputy Manager, Customer Service Manager or work in another busy service environment where you’re used to managing people, dealing with customers and solving problems.

If you’re organised, confident, practical and good with people, we can teach you the rest.

What is the job?

You’ll look after a portfolio of around 30 commercial cleaning customers and the cleaning teams working across those sites.

You’ll be the main link between our customers, our cleaners and our office\-based Operations Team.

This is very much a hands\-on, out\-and\-about role.

We don’t want you sitting behind a desk all day. We want you visiting customers, checking standards, talking to cleaners, resolving problems and making sure everything is running as it should.

What might your day look like?

No two days are the same.

You might start by visiting a customer to check they’re happy with their cleaning service.

Then you could meet a new cleaner at another site, show them around and make sure they understand what is required.

Later you might:

  • Carry out a cleaning audit.

  • Check a cleaning cupboard is properly stocked.

  • Speak to a cleaner about standards or attendance.

  • Meet a customer to review their service.

  • Help resolve unexpected sickness cover.

  • Interview a potential new cleaner.

  • Check that a new member of staff is settling in.

  • Support the mobilisation of a new customer.

  • Investigate and resolve a service issue.
Some days will be straightforward.

Other days may throw several problems at you at once.

That’s why we need someone who stays calm, thinks practically and enjoys finding solutions.

Your main responsibilities

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Regularly visiting customer sites across your area.

  • Building strong relationships with customers.

  • Making sure customers are happy with the service they receive.

  • Carrying out quality audits and cleaning inspections.

  • Managing and supporting cleaners and site supervisors.

  • Helping recruit and introduce new cleaning staff.

  • Managing attendance, standards and performance issues.

  • Helping arrange sickness and holiday cover.

  • Making sure sites have the correct cleaning materials and equipment.

  • Ensuring cleaners understand their individual site requirements.

  • Responding quickly when customers raise concerns.

  • Making sure any service issues are properly resolved.

  • Monitoring site hours and keeping an eye on operational costs.

  • Ensuring Health \& Safety procedures and company standards are followed.

  • Keeping accurate records and completing basic reports and administration.
You’ll report to our Operations Manager and will have the support of our office\-based Operations and Business Support Team.

What this role is NOT

This isn’t a heavily corporate management role.

You won’t be expected to spend your week buried in payroll, timesheets, financial forecasting or endless spreadsheets.

We have an office team to support much of the administration.

Your focus is where we believe it adds the most value:

customers, cleaners, standards and service delivery.

That means being visible, approachable and willing to take ownership when something needs sorting.

Who would suit this role?

We’re more interested in attitude and ability than having the perfect CV.

You’ll probably enjoy this job if you are:

  • Naturally good with people.

  • Confident talking to customers.

  • Organised and good at managing your own time.

  • Able to juggle several things at once.

  • Comfortable managing people.

  • Supportive, but also able to have a firm conversation when necessary.

  • Proactive rather than waiting to be told what to do.

  • Calm under pressure.

  • Someone who notices when something isn’t quite right.

  • Practical and willing to get involved.

  • Happy working independently.

  • Comfortable using email, Microsoft Office and everyday business systems.

  • Flexible when an operational issue occasionally changes your day.
A full UK driving licence is essential.

Do I need cleaning\-industry experience?

Not necessarily.

Previous experience in commercial cleaning, facilities management or multi\-site operations would certainly be useful, but it is not essential for the right person.

We’d also be interested in hearing from people with experience in areas such as:

  • Cleaning supervision.

  • Hospitality.

  • Hotels.

  • Retail management.

  • Customer service.

  • Leisure.

  • Care or service coordination.

  • Facilities support.

  • Other people\-focused operational roles.
If you already understand the commercial cleaning industry, great.

If you don’t, but you have the right attitude, confidence and organisational skills, we can support you while you learn.

Working hours

The role is 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

The normal working pattern is mainly a 11am/12 noon start, working until 8pm latest.

This is because many of our cleaning teams work later in the day, so we need our managers to be available to see both customers and cleaners.

There may occasionally be earlier starts or later finishes to meet customer or operational needs, so some flexibility is important.

You’ll have responsibility for managing your own diary around the needs of your sites.

What we offer

  • £30,000–£32,000 depending on experience.

  • Fully maintained company vehicle for business use.

  • Company laptop.

  • Company mobile phone.

  • 5\.8 weeks’ annual leave.

  • 3% pension contribution.

  • Training and ongoing support.

  • An experienced office and Operations Team behind you.

  • A varied role where no two days are the same.

  • Plenty of independence and responsibility.

  • Genuine opportunity to develop as the business continues to grow.
There is absolutely scope for the right person to progress within Momentum.

But first and foremost, we’re looking for someone who wants to become brilliant at looking after customers, managing people and running their own portfolio of sites.
