Overview and purpose of the role

To be the primary day\-to\-day contact for an allocated portfolio of customer accounts, ensuring exceptional customer service from enquiry through to delivery and after\-sales support. The Customer Account Manager will coordinate customer requirements, manage administration relating to customer accounts, and build strong long\-term customer relationships while ensuring orders, deliveries and communications are managed efficiently and accurately.

The role supports the company's Quality Management System and Environmental Management System (ISO 14001\), ensuring customer documentation and records are maintained accurately and in compliance with company procedures.

Key responsibilities and duties

  • Act as the dedicated day\-to\-day contact for allocated customer accounts.

  • Build trusted relationships with customers through proactive communication.

  • Manage customer enquiries via telephone and email.

  • Process customer orders accurately and efficiently.

  • Coordinate deliveries with production, warehouse and logistics teams.

  • Keep customers updated on production progress and delivery schedules.

  • Resolve customer queries and coordinate solutions internally.

  • Maintain accurate customer records, quotations and correspondence.

  • Prepare quotations and follow up where appropriate.

  • Work closely with Production, Quality, Purchasing and Finance to ensure customer expectations are met.

  • Ensure all customer documentation complies with the Quality Management and Environmental Management Systems.

  • Produce invoices and supporting documentation using Xero.

  • Monitor customer satisfaction and identify opportunities to improve service.

  • Identify opportunities to grow existing customer accounts and refer commercial opportunities where appropriate.

  • Attend customer meetings online or in person where appropriate.

  • Support continuous improvement of customer service processes.

  • Manage purchasing of raw materials and other required supplies in response to production requirements, stock levels and supplier lead times, according to company procedures and relevant import requirements.

  • Liaise proactively with suppliers regarding pricing, availability, lead times and potential supply issues, escalating risks that may affect production or customer delivery commitments.

  • Manage supplier approval and review processes, in accordance with company Quality and Environmental Management Systems.

  • Provide other administrative functions as required.

  • Any other activities related to the needs of the business.
Skills
  • Previous experience in Account Management, Customer Service and Sales Administration.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong organisational and time management skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple customer accounts simultaneously.

  • High level of attention to detail.

  • Strong Microsoft Office skills.

  • Experience using CRM and ERP systems (desirable).

  • Experience using Xero (desirable).

  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment would be advantageous.

  • Experience of Health \& Safety or Cleaning \& Hygiene industries would be beneficial.

  • Comfortable working across several departments.

  • Appreciation of purchasing, supplier management or procurement within a manufacturing environment would be advantageous.
Pay: £31,000\.00\-£35,000\.00 per year
