Credit Controller

Role Summary
Tanglewood Care Homes is a well\-established, successful, and rapidly growing group of care homes, committed to delivering outstanding care to its residents.
The Finance Team plays a vital role in supporting this mission by ensuring strong financial control, accurate reporting, and a high standard of service to both internal and external stakeholders.
The primary focus of this role is to drive effective and timely cash collection, ensuring the financial stability and cash flow of the business.
The postholder must exercise a high degree of professionalism, discretion, and sensitivity. The role requires a balanced approach with a strong focus on credit control and cash collection whilst maintaining empathy and an understanding of the care environment in which Tanglewood Care Homes operates.
Key Responsibilities
Credit Control
- Proactively chase outstanding payments mainly via phone however using email, and written communication to support as necessary.
- Escalate overdue accounts where necessary
- Maintain a clean and accurate ledger
- Support forecasting of cash inflows
- Work to reduce debtor days (DSO)
- Identify and report potential bad debts
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers
- Handle queries relating to invoices or payments promptly and professionally
- Negotiate payment plans where required
- Ensure adherence to internal credit policies and procedures
- Prepare regular reports on debtor status and collection performance
- Assist with audits and financial reporting as required
- Supporting the wider finance team with ad hoc tasks and projects as required
- Contributing to continuous improvement of finance processes, controls, and team ways of working
- Reduction in debtor days (DSO)
- Percentage of overdue accounts
- Cash collection targets achieved
- Accuracy of accounts receivable records
Essential Skills \& Attributes
· Excellent communication skills and a collaborative team‑focused approach
· Strong attention to detail and accuracy
· Previous experience in a credit control role
· Ability to prioritise and manage workload effectively
· Good analytical and problem\-solving skills
· Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
· Resilient and assertive with a professional manner
· Proactive, flexible, and solutions‑oriented mindset
· Quick learner, able to adapt and add value rapidly
Desirable
- Finance qualification desirable
We have the option to discuss a permanent, or temporary role to suit the situation of the successful candidate.
Pay: £28,000\.00\-£30,000\.00 per year
