The Opportunity
An established UK organisation is seeking an experienced Credit Control Specialist to join its finance function during an exciting period of growth and transformation. Working within a collaborative finance team, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of business accounts, ensuring payments are collected promptly and customer relationships are maintained professionally.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of customer accounts, ensuring outstanding balances are collected within agreed payment terms.
- Build strong working relationships with both customers and internal departments.
- Investigate and resolve account disputes and payment queries to minimise overdue debt.
- Monitor customer payment performance and take proactive action to reduce aged debt exposure.
- Coordinate with external recovery partners on escalated debt cases where required.
- Review and maintain customer credit limits, balancing commercial requirements with risk management.
- Work closely with transactional finance teams to ensure accurate cash allocation and account reconciliation.
- Produce regular debtor reports and provide commentary on overdue balances.
- Support ongoing reviews of customer accounts to assess credit exposure and insurance requirements.
- Previous experience within Credit Control, Accounts Receivable or Collections.
- Strong understanding of debt recovery, cash collection and credit management principles.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
- Comfortable working to targets and deadlines within a busy environment.
- Experience using SAP / ERP or finance systems, would be advantageous.
