Credit Controller

About This Role
If you're an experienced Credit Controller who enjoys taking ownership of accounts, building relationships and achieving results, this could be the role for you. You'll manage your own customer accounts from invoice through to payment, helping to reduce overdue debt and ensure payments are received in line with agreed credit terms. Working closely with our Sales, Customer Care and Finance teams, you'll resolve queries, prevent issues from delaying payment and balance excellent customer service with a firm and effective approach to credit control.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Proactively chasing outstanding customer balances by telephone and email.
- Ensuring customers pay within their agreed credit terms.
- Maintaining accurate and up\-to\-date customer account records.
- Allocating and reconciling customer payments.
- Investigating and resolving invoice, pricing and account queries promptly.
- Working with internal departments to resolve disputes that are preventing payment.
- Agreeing and monitoring authorised payment plans.
- Identifying customers who may be becoming a credit risk and escalating concerns appropriately.
- Reviewing overdue accounts and recommending when accounts should be placed on hold.
- Assisting with setting and reviewing customer credit limits.
- Monitoring customers approaching or exceeding their credit limits.
- Producing and reviewing aged debtor reports.
- Maintaining accurate notes, actions and follow\-up dates within Credit Hound.
- Using Sage 200 to review customer accounts, transactions and balances.
- Escalating seriously overdue or problematic accounts in line with company procedures.
- Supporting month\-end processes and debtor reporting.
- Building professional relationships with customers while protecting Quickslide's commercial position.
- Following credit control procedures and company policies consistently.
We're looking for someone who is confident speaking with customers, comfortable managing difficult conversations and able to build positive working relationships while maintaining effective credit control. You'll be organised, commercially aware and motivated by achieving results in a busy environment.
Essential:
- A minimum of two years' experience in a Credit Control role.
- Experience using Sage 200 or a similar accounting system.
- Strong telephone communication and negotiation skills.
- Confidence handling difficult conversations about overdue payments.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
- Ability to prioritise effectively and manage a busy workload.
- Good Microsoft Excel and general Microsoft Office skills.
- A commercial approach to credit control and customer relationships.
- Ability to work independently while contributing positively to the wider Finance team.
- Experience using Credit Hound.
- Experience within manufacturing, construction, trade supply or another B2B environment.
