The company is on a journey towards becoming a leading premium electric car brand, having just launched the best in class, fully electric EX60\. The company is turning 100 years in 2027 and is setting up for “A new beginning” to the next decade. With the technology presented in its electric cars, it is the only company to score top results as a software defined vehicles.

The Volvo Cars brand team consist of Brand Strategists, Creative Directors and Brand Concepts Directors. You will be joining a senior team that comes with perspectives from across the world and across different industries.

What you'll do
------------------

You will creatively direct high\-level brand concepts throughout Volvo Cars, as well as work to ensure creative consistency across touch points, over time. You will interpret and execute on insights and long\-term strategy and contribute to making it come to life.

You will evolve and enforce the Volvo cars Brand Identity Guidelines, in collaboration with designers and art directors across the company.

You will lead creative execution of imagery style and storytelling in new car launches from mood board and “big idea” to the launch event, as well as overlook all assets. You will work together with creative agencies and other marketing and communication functions in a collaborative manner to get the best possible business result short\- and long term.

Your contribution spans across new\-car launches to brand communication and campaign work, as well as our physical experiences and experiential marketing. The projects will vary between multiple year processes to fast and agile deliverables.

You will be expected to be based in Gothenburg, working from our new offices (moving into a brand new building in the autumn 2026\).

We see that you have a background as an Art Director with a documented experience of hands\-on creative craft such as design, photo shoots and film production. You know how to build visual worlds and how lead creative teams to execute on your vision. All the way down to the final delivery.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 10 years of experience as a senior Art Director and/or Creative Director

  • Have a deep passion for culture, music and arts.

  • Have an interest in and understanding of strategy, insights and brand development.

  • Be curious to work and evolve in the digital and automated landscape, working to develop a way to protect and evolve the Volvo brand in a “sea of sameness”

  • Resilience and respect for working within a large organisation, where meaningful impact is created through collaboration, trust and appreciation for diverse competencies and perspectives

  • Interest in being part of a dynamic and evolving organisation that is facing both internal and external challenges driving the industry forward

  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build trust across core teams and with senior leadership (such as Head of Design, Head of Consumer Excellence, CMO, etc.)
Bonus:
  • An interest and understanding of the automotive industry

  • Experience from something totally different than the automotive industry

  • Experience integrating AI into the creative process

  • Experience working with cultural integration and innovative digital activations within marketing
