Our Court Associates are essential to ensure Magistrates Court hearings run smoothly. They have the self\-assurance to communicate confidently with the Judge and all participants and the skill to produce accurate and timely Court documents.

About you
Youre a confident communicator; able to speak publicly, with the self\-assurance to confidently liaise with the Judge, the defence, prosecution, media, members of the public and more, regarding complex and sensitive matters in a calm and professional manner.
A real team player, working within a Legal Team and with a Judge, youll ensure the smooth running of all the Magistrates Courts sitting daily, able to intervene in Court when required and maximise judicial sitting time. With experience in producing exact and time critical documentation, your ability to focus will be key in taking pleas, producing Court orders and recording hearing outcomes accurately and efficiently.
Resilient and keen to learn, youre familiar with working within process and have the IT skills to adapt to new systems and technologies as were constantly investing in digital solutions to improve the way we deliver the justice people deserve in todays world.

These operational roles are customer facing, requiring successful applicants to be office based to provide HMCTS services to the public. Standard full time working hours are 37 hours per week. HMCTS welcomes part\-time, flexible and job\-sharing working patterns, where they meet the demands of the role and business needs and are agreed prior to appointment. All applications for part\-time, flexible and job\-sharing working patterns will be considered in accordance with the MoJs Flexible Working policy.
New recruits to the Civil Service joining MoJ are expected to join at the band minimum.

Location Details
We have 2 roles, located at CHESTER MAGISTRATES CHESTER, CH1 2XA, and WARRINGTON COMBINED WARRINGTON, WA1 1UR. Please only select a location where you are prepared to travel to and work from every day. If you are offered a role in one of your stated location preferences (for example, your 2nd choice), you will not be able to decline this and remain on the merit list for a higher preference. Or if you are offered a role in any one of your stated preferences and decline it, you will be removed from the reserve list for all your preferences.
We will be allocating roles and base locations using your selected preference location/s. We will appoint in merit list order for each location outlined in the vacancy.
After appointments have been made using this locational appointment process, any remaining candidates who met the benchmark for the role will be placed on a reserve list, based on your selected preferences. This will be for a period of 12 months in the event of a similar opportunity arising in one of these locations.
This is an office based/court based frontline role, and for both locations, regular travel around the Cheshire area will be required.
Interview Schedule Notice
Interviews are scheduled to take place in person at Warrington Combined Court Legh Street, Warrington WA1 1UR. Please note that requests for virtual interviews and/or rescheduling will only be considered in exceptional circumstances, and any rearrangements must still occur within the interview period.
Interviews are predicted to take place in late July\-early August, subject to change due to the summer period.
Skilled Worker Visa
This role is not eligible for new Skilled Worker visas in accordance with the current immigration rules.
