NHS Ayrshire and Arran has made significant investment in radiological services as part of a programme of improvement supporting the redesign of "front door" emergency services. The aim is to enhance local service infrastructure to deliver timely and integrated radiological support to clinical teams. Services are delivered from two linked District General Hospitals Crosshouse (539 beds) and Ayr (353 beds) within a single medical imaging service.

The successful applicant will join the existing complement of 18 Radiologists in Ayrshire. At present each hospital operates its own on\-call rota. The delivery of the on\-call service is currently under review. There is a well\-established outsourcing overnight on\-call to a nighthawk service.
