Consultant in Rehabilitation Medicine
Applications are invited for the post of Consultant in Specialist Rehabilitation to help develop and supporting the existing services across South, West, Mid and East Wales, in particular the developing Prolonged Disorders of Consciousness (PDOC) service and Major Trauma Centre (MTC).
A motivated and enthusiastic colleague is required to join the current team of three Rehabilitation Consultants (across both Spinal and Neuro Rehabilitation), two Neurology Consultants and experienced MDT: applicants should have at least two years postgraduate training in specialist rehabilitation.
The specialist Neuro and Spinal Rehabilitation Units provide care for adults from a wide geographical area, including South and Mid Wales, and the postholder will be expected to provide two weekly outpatient clinics (Complex Disability and Traumatic Brain Injury) and support PDOC assessment with follow up.
The postholder will also help to ensure consistent Rehab Medicine support to the Major Trauma Centre across the working week.
Academic interests will be encouraged; research and teaching in collaboration with Cardiff University's School of Medicine will be expected.
Applicants should either be on the Specialist Register in Rehabilitation Medicine or be within six months of their expected date of receipt of a CCT in Rehab Medicine at the time of interview.
You will be able to take advantage of the excellent Consultant contract for Wales.
Applicants must ensure they provide the names and contact details of referees covering at least the last three years of their employment/training history in full. In addition, applicants who are currently or have most recently been employed as a substantive Consultant or as a Locum Consultant in post for more than 12 months must also provide the name of their Medical Director as an additional referee.
