Consultant in Paediatric and Adolescent Rheumatology

This is an exciting opportunity for a Consultant in Paediatric and Adolescent Rheumatology to join our friendly, busy department at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital (RMCH) in a 6 PA post, with additional on\-call responsibilities.
Applicants with full specialist accreditation in paediatric rheumatology, or SPIN accreditation in paediatric rheumatology with recent relevant experience in a tertiary rheumatology centre, are encouraged to apply.
The Rheumatology Consultants provide a full on\-call rota, providing out of hours care and advice for patients within RMCH and around the Greater Manchester region. The team work on a “hot\-week” system and the post holder would be expected to contribute to the on\-call rota.
Cross\-cover arrangements are in place to cover patients during times of leave. It is expected that the post holder will work closely with consultant colleagues to ensure clear handover and continuity of care for all patients and that time off will be taken flexibly to ensure the department has adequate senior cover at all times.
§ You will provide, with consultant colleagues, a service in the Paediatric and Adolescent Rheumatology specialty to MFT hospitals, with responsibility for the diagnosis and treatment of illness and promotion of health.
§ You will have continuing responsibility for the care of patients in your charge in liaison with consultant colleagues and for the proper functioning of the department in line with the standard operating procedures and relevant guidance.
§ You will be responsible for the professional supervision and management of junior medical staff.
§ You will be required to participate in continuing professional development and the Trust is committed to providing time and financial support for these activities in line with the relevant MFT Policies.
§ You will be required to participate in and contribute to Clinical Audit in line with the Trust’s policy on the implementation of Clinical Governance.
§ You will be required to provide cover for consultant colleagues' periods of leave where applicable.
