Consultant in Older Adult Psychiatry- BaNES CMHT
The Trust is seeking a consultant psychiatrist to join the Bath and NE Somerset OA CMHT which provides comprehensive mental health services to Older Adults in the locality. The Older Adult Community Mental Health Team (OA CMHT) is a single team working over 2 sites, one
based in Bath at Bath NHS House and the other at the Hollies in Midsomer Norton covering Northeast Somerset. There is a single team manager, and the team members have some flexibility to work across the boundaries as necessary. This is a newly created post working alongside another part time Consultant within the OA CMHT based at the Hollies, Midsomer Norton, which provided a service to GP practices in Midsomer Norton, Radstock, Paulton, Keynsham and the Chew Valley Area. The OA CMHT is a specialist secondary care team. Its core patient group is people over the age of 65 with complex mental health issues, especially depression, psychosis and dementia complicated by behavioural or psychological symptoms. It also provides a service to younger people with dementia complicated by behavioural or
psychological symptoms, or to those patients whose needs can best be met by the team.
The Consultant will deliver direct interventions to service users at a level of intensity according to need including those service users who require an assertive approach who are difficult to engage. This will include on\-going assessment, diagnoses (including review and clarification) and treatment of mental and physical health needs.
- To provide advice to members of the Multi\-Disciplinary Teams.
- Regular attendance at the weekly Team MDT meetings.
- Assessment and treatment of outpatients in clinics/home visits.
- To hold CPA meetings for outpatients where appropriate.
- To visit patients in their own place of residence
