Construction Team Leader
Contract: Cheshire East Highways
Location: Crewe
Contract Type: Permanent
Reporting to the Construction Manager, the successful candidate will plan coordinate and deliver an end\-to end highways improvements capital works throughout the borough.
The purpose of the role is to ensure supervisors, operatives and supply chain partners are put to and carry out work safely. Lead on a range of activities so that all operational elements are delivered in accordance with the relevant standards, strategies and policies of the service.
This role involves coordinating high\-level major and minor projects, ensuring compliance with NEC contracts, and managing budgets and change processes.
The Role
Lead delivery of complex and major highway improvement schemes from planning to completion.
Coordinate multi disciplinary teams, including designers, supervisors, operatives, and supply chain partners.
Manage budgets, cost forecasts, and change control processes in line with NEC contract requirements.
Produce and maintain detailed construction programmes, identifying critical path and risks.
Engage early with stakeholders such as, utilities, landowners, and communities.
Lead risk management activities, maintaining risk registers and ensuring mitigation actions are delivered.
Oversee development and implementation of complex traffic management plans.
Manage design reviews, technical approvals, and buildability assessments
Job Description
About You
- Good knowledge and application of design procedures, guidance and standards and good practice documents \- Essential
- Good knowledge of Construction, Design and Management regulations and application of Health and Safety legislation \- Essential
- Good Knowledge of and application of Highway Legislation\- Essential
- Previous experience of working with Highways construction is desirable but not essential. \- Essential
- NRSWA – Supervisor (New Road and Street Works Act) Qualification \- Desirable
- SMSTS (Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme) \- Desirable
