We are seeking an organised, proactive and reliable Construction Purchasing \& Property Administrator to join our busy construction and property management team based at Technology House in Bedford.
This is a varied and hands\-on role that would suit someone with experience in construction, property maintenance, facilities management, builders merchants or a similar environment. The successful candidate will assist with purchasing materials, negotiating with suppliers, coordinating deliveries, managing stock, processing purchase orders and invoices, and providing general administrative support across our construction, development and property management operations.
Strong Excel skills are highly desirable, as the role involves maintaining purchasing records, stock control, reporting and cost tracking across multiple projects.
We are a practical, hardworking team and are looking for someone who is prepared to roll their sleeves up and get involved in all aspects of administration as required. No two days are the same, and flexibility, common sense and a willingness to help wherever needed are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Obtaining quotations and negotiating prices with suppliers.
- Purchasing construction materials, tools and equipment.
- Raising and managing purchase orders.
- Coordinating deliveries to sites and ensuring materials arrive on time.
- Managing stock levels and maintaining stock control records.
- Checking supplier invoices and resolving discrepancies.
- Liaising with contractors, suppliers and site personnel.
- Monitoring orders from placement through to delivery.
- Assisting with scheduling and coordination of maintenance and construction works.
- Maintaining accurate records, spreadsheets and purchasing information.
- Supporting the property management and construction teams with general administration.
- Monitoring costs and helping identify opportunities for savings and efficiencies.
- Assisting with filing, document management, reporting and other office duties as required.
- Providing support to directors and managers across a variety of projects.
- Previous experience in an administrative role.
- Good understanding of construction materials, maintenance works or building trades.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Strong negotiation and supplier management abilities.
- Excellent computer skills, particularly Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word.
- Ability to create, manage and update spreadsheets accurately.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously.
