Construction Manager

A leading infrastructure services provider is seeking an experienced Construction Manager to support the delivery of a major programme of highways and civil engineering works. Your new role
As Construction Manager, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient delivery of multiple civil engineering schemes, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Working closely with project teams, designers, subcontractors, and stakeholders, you will oversee construction activities from planning through to completion.

The role is primarily office-based with regular site visits and will involve managing a portfolio of works including drainage, pavement, structures, and wider highways' infrastructure projects.

Key responsibilities:

• Leading the construction delivery of multiple schemes across the network


• Managing project teams, subcontractors, and supply chain partners


• Preparing and reviewing Construction Phase Plans and construction programmes


• Ensuring compliance with CDM Regulations, health & safety legislation, and company procedures


• Chairing project meetings and providing regular progress updates to senior management


• Managing project risks, early warnings, and construction-related issues


• Acting as the principal point of escalation for site delivery matters


• Undertaking site inspections and promoting a positive safety culture


• Reviewing drawings, specifications, and BOQs to ensure successful project delivery


• Monitoring programme performance, cost control, and quality standards


• Producing and maintaining accurate project documentation


• Building strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and operational teams

What you'll need to succeed

• Previous experience in a Construction Manager position within highways, infrastructure, or civil engineering


• Strong project management and leadership capabilities


• Experience managing multidisciplinary teams and subcontractors


• Proven ability to prepare Construction Phase Plans and construction programmes


• Excellent IT skills across a range of project management and reporting systems


• A thorough understanding of CDM Regulations and health & safety requirements


• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills


• The ability to manage multiple priorities within a fast-paced environment


• Experience interpreting technical drawings, specifications, and BOQs


• SMSTS certification as a minimum
