Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of secured and tendered work, we are seeking an experienced and commercially astute Senior Construction Estimator to join our pre\-construction team.
The Role
The successful candidate will play a key role in the preparation, coordination, and submission of competitive and accurate tenders across a diverse range of construction projects. You will work closely with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and internal project teams to develop robust cost plans and pricing strategies that support successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
· Prepare detailed cost estimates and tender submissions for projects across multiple construction sectors.
· Review drawings, specifications, schedules, and tender documentation.
· Undertake quantity take\-offs and prepare comprehensive bills of quantities.
· Source and evaluate quotations from subcontractors and suppliers.
· Assess project risks, opportunities, and value engineering options.
· Collaborate with design, commercial, operational, and procurement teams throughout the bid process.
· Attend site visits, pre\-tender meetings, and client presentations where required.
· Prepare budgets, cost plans, and feasibility estimates during pre\-construction stages.
· Maintain accurate records of tender submissions and historical cost data.
· Support negotiations with clients, subcontractors, and supply chain partners.
· Assist in handover processes from tender stage through to project delivery.
Candidate Requirements
· Minimum 5 years’ experience in a construction estimating role, preferably with a main contractor.
· Proven experience pricing projects across a variety of sectors including commercial, residential, healthcare, education, industrial, and public sector works.
· Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, procurement routes, and contract forms.
· Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
· Excellent numerical, analytical, and commercial skills.
· Proficient in estimating software and Microsoft Office applications.
· Strong communication and negotiation abilities.
· Ability to manage multiple tenders and work effectively under pressure.
· Full UK driving licence.
· to work independently and as part of a team
· Degree or HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
· Membership of RICS, CIOB, or equivalent professional body.
· Experience of Design \& Build, Traditional, Framework, and Two\-Stage tendering processes.
