About Little Nest Rescue

Little Nest Rescue is a charity caring for rescued animals while creating opportunities for people to spend time outdoors, learn new skills and connect with animals and nature.

We are developing a new community wellbeing programme using our rescue animals, wellbeing garden and outdoor spaces to support children, young people and adults.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of something new and help shape how the project grows.

About the Role

We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, practical and enjoys working with people, animals and the outdoors.

The role will involve helping us deliver our new wellbeing sessions, creating opportunities for people to build confidence, learn new skills and enjoy meaningful experiences at Little Nest.

This is a hands on role. You will be involved in delivering sessions, preparing activities, working with participants and helping the project develop.

Around 8 hours per week will involve direct session delivery, with additional time for planning, preparation, organising resources, communication and project development.

What You Will Do

Deliver Community Sessions

You will help plan and deliver sessions for children, young people and adults.

Activities may include:

● Animal care activities

● Gardening and growing projects

● Nature activities

● Creative projects

● Seasonal activities

● Outdoor wellbeing sessions

You will help make sure sessions are welcoming, enjoyable and suitable for the people attending, adapting activities where needed.

Working with Animals

Our animals are at the heart of this project, so being comfortable around animals is important.

You will:

● Support safe and respectful interactions with our rescue animals.

● Help participants understand animal care and welfare.

● Encourage people to recognise animal needs and behaviour.

● Ensure activities are always carried out with the welfare of the animals as the priority.

You do not need to be an animal expert, but you should be confident around animals and willing to learn about our rescue and the animals in our care.

Planning and Preparing

Behind every session is preparation, and this role will include:

● Planning activities.

● Preparing equipment and resources.

● Developing new ideas.

● Making use of our wellbeing garden and outdoor spaces.

● Helping the project continue to grow.

Community Links

You will help us build positive relationships with:

● Schools

● Community groups

● Local organisations

● Participants and families

You will help people understand what Little Nest offers and encourage them to get involved.

Monitoring the Project

You will help us understand the impact of the project by:

● Keeping attendance records.

● Collecting feedback.

● Recording activities and outcomes.

● Supporting funder reporting requirements.

About You

We are looking for someone who is:

● Warm, friendly and approachable.

● Confident working with different people.

● Comfortable outdoors in all seasons.

● Happy getting involved with practical tasks.

● Organised and reliable.

● Able to encourage people and help them feel comfortable.

● Interested in animals, nature, wellbeing or community work.

Experience in areas such as the following would be helpful:

● Community work

● Youth work

● Education

● SEND support

● Wellbeing projects

● Outdoor learning

● Animal care

However, we are also interested in the person behind the experience someone who shares our values and wants to make a difference.

Working Arrangement

This opportunity is offered on a self employed contractor basis.

The contractor will provide agreed project coordination and delivery services to Little Nest Rescue and will manage their own working arrangements while working towards the agreed project outcomes.

The flexible nature of this opportunity may suit someone who already works in community, education, wellbeing, outdoor learning or a related area and would like to be involved in an additional project.

We are currently looking for someone to complete 14 hours per week @ £15 p/h. (This may be subject to change if funding is withdrawn).
