Overview

.The postholder will lead the development of the Community Transport Organisation Network, working with transport operators, local communities, voluntary organisations, statutory agencies and funders.

The role will also support new services, including the shopping shuttle and car scheme, with project development, volunteer support and training assistance from a Project Assistant.

Duties

Key areas of responsibility

  • Develop and promote the Northumberland Community Transport Organisation Network.

  • Build partnerships with community transport operators and strengthen collaboration across the sector.

  • Support the capacity, sustainability and development of community transport groups and new transport initiatives

  • Develop and implement strategies to expand and strengthen the community transport network, fostering collaborations with local organizations, authorities, and stakeholders.

  • Oversee daily operations of transportation services, ensuring timely, safe, and reliable service delivery.

  • Working with the Senior management team to develop this new project across the whole of Northumberland.

  • Lead a team of staff and volunteers by providing clear direction, support, and leadership to promote operational excellence.

  • Monitor service performance through data analysis and customer feedback to identify areas for improvement and implement necessary changes.

  • Maintain comprehensive records of operations, schedules, and partner communications with high levels of computer literacy and organizational skills.Requirements

  • Proven management experience in transportation or logistics environments with strong leadership capabilities.

  • Valid driving license with excellent driving skills; experience in fleet management is preferred.

  • Knowledge of the Voluntary and community sector

  • Excellent Geographical knowledge of Northumberland

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) along with IT literacy for managing databases and operational software.

  • Excellent communication skills in English; ability to liaise effectively with diverse community groups and partners.

  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently in a busy setting.

  • Demonstrated customer service orientation with a proactive approach to problem\-solving.
